disable text box?

hey on my site with php nuke 7.7 .. where a text box should be i get some sort of enhanced text box.. with like all different functions.. is there a way i can disable it and make it just a normal input box?

We do not recommend nor really support 7.7 as it is a really bad release in our opinion. I would strongly suggest that you back down to version 7.6. See http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/article-1317--0-0.html

um ok.. by stepping back down to 7.6 what will i loose??
will i loose any of my members or posts in forums ect?

ok so i read about 1/4 of the way through that article and i gather that 7.7 = BAD..
so what do i do to "downgrade" my version of phpnuke(keeping in mind i installed this version from fantastico on my CPanel)

http://www.nukescripts.net/modules.php?name=Downloads&op=getit&lid=100270. This will downgrade your database w/o destroying the data. Then, delete all files on your site (make a copy of config.php first). Then, load the nuke 7.6 files to your site. Update your config.php file and all should be well. You will lose any addon modules, blocks, and customizations if you do it this way.

so delete all the php nuke files on my site or ALL the files??

Delete the phpnuke files. Get 7.6 from my download area. The latest patches are already installed. Only copy the MySQL settings from your old config to your new config.

That means your MySQL parameters in your config.php file are not correct.

because i just changed them so that they are exactly the same as the old config.php file and now the page loads with the proper title and background colour but nothing else loads

so what should i do now mr raven Smile

Did you remove all the 7.7 files before you downgraded? And then uploaded the patched 7.6 files? Did you run the upgrade.php file in the root nuke folder?

Just start over. Delete all your nuke files on your ftp site. Drop your database. Recreate an empty database. Load the 7.6 sql file to your database. Ftp all of the 7.6patched3.0b files to your ftp site. Update your config.php file. Ftp config.php to your ftp site. Run the upgrade.php file. Create the superuser admin id. Enjoy.

ok well did it and it works.. have to reinstall everything though.. another problem i have is .. i made a backup from the forum admin CP of the database.
now when i try to restore the backup i get this error:
SQL Error : 1064 You have an error in your SQL syntax. Check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near.

is it because when i had 7.7 the forum version was .14 and with 7.6 its .15 ?
or something else?
