Is abuse-filter dangerous?

if you are tired of all the blocked IP's, i havent had ANY blocked IP's since adding this to my htaccess:

BTW, your first one can simply be the following and catch the FM and perl:

in the URL ... as most file injections are done this way, it is decent way to stop them. But it will also block valid requests that pass in URLs - such as the HTTP Referals that phpNuke uses

when you say it blocks the referals, it only does it for the admin trying to click thru the links, right? or is there a public version of that list i'm unaware of?

still seems to collect them alright, i can always cut/paste in another window if I need to check one, which i rarely have... sounds like so far it interferes with a 2x features i rarely use.... heres a few more i use for spam bots and site rippers, if your interested:

I mean, it blocks the functionality that phpNuke uses to hide referrals to off-site links within the admin system. It will append the urls to use
index.php?url=http://www.example.com

ya my list is kinda old... although i got a 500 error when replacing with your example... What exactly does that last rewrite do? Or did the forums "censor" one of the entries ( at the top, f*** )?

The f*** is a censor for the f-word. The last statement bounces them right back to their local server. Unless there are some changes in my list that the forum edits have modifed or you placed it in the wrong place in .htaccess it should work as I am using it in my live sites.

I too have been getting a lot of Filter attacks on all three of my Nuke sites. I am getting at least 5-10 each day on all 3 sites...
...and like montego said they are looking for outdated script exploits.

I'll NEVER run a Nuke site again WITHOUT Nuke Sentinel.

As I control my servers I also control the mod_security rules. 2 weeks ago I finally had had enough of the 2 to 3 dozen emails about filter attacks not to mention other top 10 stupid kiddie tricks. In 2 weeks I have reduced the total server attacks to less than .1 % from these diaper rash moronic idiots. Let them go play somewhere else.

You can control the email through the NukeSentinel(tm) blocker configuration options.
