Level 3 Communications experienced what it called "widespread network instability" early Friday, causing problems for numerous ISPs and hosts that depend on Level 3 to serve traffic. Question Title: Working - How to Get Your Question Answered More about Read More...

The following is borrowed from Experts Exchange. I have also opened up a discussion forum for comments. See How To Get Your Question Answered

First, before anyone cries plagiarism, let me say that this document borrows heavily from Eric S. Raymond's "How to Ask Questions The Smart Way" originally hosted here - http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html. However in the interest of consolidating it down to a more concise representation, update it a bit, and give it a flavor more appropriate for Experts Exchange, I thought I'd rework it and post it for both users and experts to refer to when it is warranted.

The key to getting your questions answered in any type of Internet forum, newsgroup, or mailing list is to phrase your question in such a way that will make those you're asking WANT to answer your question. Even on Experts-Exchange, the experts themselves receive almost nothing for answering your question, beyond the satisfaction of helping someone else out, and the mental challenge of a new or particularly sticky problem. However, if you, the asker, have not taken the time to try to answer the question yourself, or to think through the problem with just basic problem-solving skills, we as the experts see red flags of a lengthy and time-consuming answer, and will often as not skip your question in favor of someone else who has exhibited those qualities. We all have normal lives, other jobs, and many different elements begging for our time. If you wish your question to rise to the top of those time-requests, you need to make sure that we are getting the most challenge, the most satisfaction, for the least amount of time possible.

The key: Do your homework to make it EASY for us to help you.

Many of us get excited about a web site. My uncle has had many. I know, I am the one that puts them together for him. He is a well known author and writer, gets in the newspaper all the time for his books and writing about different things. He even has a weekly commentary that goes all over the United States. Ryan Orr is pretty smart. He doesn't know a thing about web sites.

You cannot throw up a web site and expect hundreds of thousands of hits each day. It is just not going to happen no matter how sweet your site is. If you are selling things it is even harder to do.

A Hosting And Reseller's Nightmare! More about

Jaded writes: Hello, I just want to take a moment to inform you all of a couple of companies to stay away from. I will include a very large thread on the most respected hosting site around to confirm my statements. It may take a while for you to read but the reading is an eye opener.

I would start out saying that I have had my hosting company with www.dinix.com for over a year. They were listed amoung the top hosting companies on all the forums I researched. They had excellent tech and customer support, fantastic uptime and speed. We were very happy!

Then about 6 months ago they merged with another company. I was worried about the transition but assured that things would move smoothly. They actually did. We did notice a change however in the support and speeds as well as a few times that they encountered "networking" errors and we were offilne for a short time. I was becoming less enchanted at that time but decided to stick with them. Read DO NOT USE DINIX OR WEBHOSTPLUS!!!!!
