Let's see...
7.9 offers:
- a little recovery from disabled security to support TinyMCE in 7.7 and 7.8
- required patches from Chatserv, Evaders, and co.
- required security addon from Bob Marion, Raven, and Chatserv
- weak installation
- little to no testing
- no support
RavenNuke offers:
- security and patches integrated by Evaders, Bob Marion and Raven
- simple installation developed by Raven
- testing by an active team led by Montego and Raven
- full support by an active team
Are you kidding? |

Of course, but as I contribute to the RavenNuke effort, I may not be the most objective person in this regard. I am sure others can offer their unbiased views.
There is a downgrade script from NukeScripts.net that allows you to convert tables from 7.8 to 7.6, on which RavenNuke is based. I believe there is an upgrade script that converts 7.6 standard to RavenNuke. If you're site isn't that old or you don't have much content already, you should look at the replacing the tables since RavenNuke's installation routine is one of its many advantages.
Because RavenNuke is based on PHP-Nuke 7.6, most modules and addons will work fine with RavenNuke. If they don't, you can always find support here. |

You really do not want to do 7.9 its a pretty big mess that you want to stay away from. You are better off going with RavenNuke, or 7.6+3.2+Sentinel.......or Evolution |

Perhaps I am mistaken but I don't believe there is any such thing. The Phpnuke 7.6 table structure is VERY similar to the Ravennuke 2.02.02 table structure but you need to run thru a comparison and make the few adjustments you need to make to get them to be identical. This topic has been covered many times in the Forums here. Once your table structures are identical and you have safely stored away a backup you can either (a) run the 2.02.02 programs against your old (corrected) table structure or (b) dump your old tables and restore them to an empty database you've set up for RN 2.02.02. |
