Unable to submit a form with a textbox containing .htaccess

I'm trying to install Nuke Sentinel on PHPNuke 7.3 patched 3.3. I have everything setup and I have verified that I am the God admin. I am trying to set up the authentication for admin.php and it isn't allowing me to enter the path of the .htaccess file.

I have no problems using the path for .staccess and .ftaccess.

The paths are:

/home/username/public_html/.staccess
/home/username/public_html/.ftaccess

I CAN make the .htaccess Path this:

/home/username/public_html/.htacces

But as soon as I add the last s and hit save changes, I get a 403 forbidden page stating I cannot access /admin.php.

I have added myself to the protected IP range.

I tried entering .htaccess in other forms on the website and the same thing happens. For example, if I go to edit users and search for the username ".htaccess", I get the same forbidden message.

It's like I can't POST anything containing the string ".htaccess". Do you have any suggestions? I've been working on this for several hours and I'm not having any luck.

Are the permissions 777 on .htaccess?

I'm assuming you mean the .htaccess file in the root of the domain's folder. If that's correct, the permissions are now 777, yet I am still having the same problem.

I even switched hosts just now, and I am still unable to enter .htaccess into the .htaccess Path (.htacces works fine, but that 2nd 's' at the end causes the same forbidden message).

Here are a few more notes about the new host:

1. The domain with the issue is an addon domain on my hosting account. There is an .htaccess file in the public_html folder of my account, which contains the following:

RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f


RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d


RewriteRule ^(.*) index.php

2. The addon domain folder contains an .htaccess file that I know is being used correctly because the rewrite rules are functioning. The first line in this .htaccess file is this:

3. register_globals is set to OFF, due to security risks that I've read about. I'm not positive if register_globals was on or off on the old host.

The installed Nuke Sentinel version is 2.4.2pl4.

Can you check who owns the .htaccess file?

Other problems arose beyond this, so I just switched hosts. Everything worked immediately upon uploading the files. I was hoping to avoid switching hosts, but I'm glad it happened regardless.
