.htaccess - Internal Error 500

Since I am new, I was wondering why .htaccess is causing my website to freeze and post "Internal Error 500" message?

My server is globat.com and after talking to their tech support, they said that htaccess poses no problems, if done correctly, to the server.

I have chmod'ed to 666 too and still the same "500" message and problems....

Any help is appreciated!

Well if they say it should work...

Perhaps certain statements aren't allowed. I would go ahead and remove some lines until you can determine if any of the lines aren't working properly

I had the same problem with the Rn Verison, after uploading them to my host, I get the following error:

The server encountered an internal error and was unable to complete your request. Either the server is overloaded or there was an error in a CGI script.

If you think this is a server error, please contact the webmaster.

Error 500

I contacted my host and this is the reply I got:

Hello,

The reason for the server error was the following line into the .htaccess file "Options All -Indexes". I have removed that and the website is running like charm now.

I hope you do not mind, but I modified your thread title to include the Server Error 500 as this might help folks find the same issue and resolution quicker.
