Shoutbox
Calendar (none of them, I've tried 5 different modules now)
Weather
I've had these modules working for years but with the update to the latest RavenNuke ... they all stopped working. Oddly, with Calendar I have tried multiple versions by multiple authors with absolutely no luck.
Any ideas? |

The ourscripts.net shoutbox "no scrolling" problem has been addressed in another thread:
http://www.ravenphpscripts.com/postp97712.html#97712
(hint, use the search feature... )
If you need a calendar, see my signature....
I'm not familiar with Weather. What doesn't work? |

Most of the weather modules no longer work because their feeds don't work - it has nothing to do with RN.
If Gremmie's suggestions don't help, can you describe what's happening (or not happening) in more detail? |

I'll likely have to respond in parts as I review your reply and answer back your questions.
Firstly, thanks for pointing me to the shoutbox fix. It worked perfectly and I apologize for asking something already answered elsewhere.
On the Calendar side I've tried:
Calendar 3.0 albini.net
Kalender 1.4
4n Kalender Version 0.91
GCalendar1_1_3.zip (will try Gremie's new one after this post)
php_event_calendar from early 2006
and a few others that I've already completely given up on and have deleted.
Weather - have several modules and blocks compatible with older versions of phpnuke, sentinel and ravennuke - none worked. Frankly the hits to them were minimal since live weather feeds are incorporated on a toolbar so I've deleted them since my post earlier today.
Gremie, again thanks for the assist! |

Thanks Gremmie, but I have tried two ... GCalendar1_1_3.zip and the newer GCalendar1_4_1.zip. The 1 1 3 version did not work at all on my installation of RavenNuke_v2.10.00.zip on a linux server with php5.0 installed. I even tried with RavenNuke_v2.10.00.zip on a linux server with php 4.1 installed as I'm aware that some compatibility issues have happened with the newer version of php.
Thanks, the 1_4_1 version is working perfectly. |

What do you mean didn't work at all? I have not tested it under PHP5. But it should have worked under PHP 4.1. What version of MySQL do you have? |

Gremmie,
I have several servers going and I loaded GCalendar1_1_3 to both a 4.1 and 5.0 server with RavenNuke_v2.10.00. I carefully followed the instructions provided for installation, verified the tables were present in the database (same database used for RavenNuke_v2.10.00) and it didn't work.
I uninstalled GCalendar1_1_3, reinstalled it and it didn't work.
I started fresh on a completely blank server with no data tables and it didn't work. I don't think the version of mysql is the problem, I suspect its either some small snippet of code incompatiblility with RavenNuke_v2.10.00 or as is most often the case - operator error. I wouldn't have posted here except I had tried repeatedly.
1_4_1 version worked first time without a single problem. Now if I can download and install the 1_4_1 version without a hiccup why can't the 1_1_3 version go as smoothly? I don't know. |

firstwiseman, you still didn't answer Gremmie's question.
What do you mean by didn't work?
Blank screen?
Can't add events?
etc etc.
If it's the dreaded blank screen turn on error reporting. |

firstwiseman, GCalendar versions prior to 1.1.3 did not work on MySQL 4.0.x, but 1.1.3 and later did. You still haven't said what version of MySQL you are using. I'm only asking because I'm curious, it probably doesn't matter now. But I did develop and test GCalendar on RN 2.02 and then 2.10 when it came out. However, version 1.1.3 predates RN2.10 and I never tried that configuration (nor really had a reason to). But anyway, as long as the latest version of GCalendar works on the latest version of RN.....I'm glad you got it running. |

Can add events that then don't show up on calendar although they're in the database. They sit there in the queue. I thought I answered the question as far as it went.
Again my thanks for the help. |

Hi Gremmie,
As I said above I tried it on two versions of MySQL. They were 4.1 and 5.0. I recently (after reading these messages) also loaded it to a server running 4.0 and the same problem occured, i.e. event would go into the database but not get on the calendar.
I trust you that it should work ... but it didn't. Given that I have few problems with other modules and can usually resolve them myself (and have written a few less involved modules). I really appreciate the help and thanks again for the new version. Works great. |

OK, as Gremmie said other people have been able to get previous versions and the latest working on RN and therefore to help Gremmie diagnose the problem any additional information you can provide is a great help.
You told us what you did, but not what was actually not working. The difference between the dreaded white screen and information not being displayed are usually two very different issues.
It’s like taking your computer back to the shop and saying ‘it’s not working’, the first question is always going to be ‘well what exactly is not working sir?’.
Anyway I’m glad you’ve got the new version working, enjoy. |

You will have to register to this site to get to the downloads section, but I am using their weather mod on RN......http://gatornet.net/.....and it seems to work fine. |

You said *PHP* 4.1 and 5.0 but not the *MySQL* version numbers, or at least I missed them. The symptom you described about adding events but they would not show occurred under MySQL 4.0.x as I used some MySQL operators that were only available in MySQL 4.1.x or above in those older GCalendar version. But again, no use hashing this over, just use the latest version . As the module author, I was just curious about exactly what didn't work so I can know if it is a new problem or not. |

Gremmie ... just a note. In your installation instructions as of the date I downloaded the latest version it says
Quote: | If you wish to be able to approve user submitted events, and you wish to see a count of pending events in the Admin "Waiting Content" block, then follow these steps. Otherwise this part is optional. In mainfile.php, find:
$content .= "<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href=\"".$admin_file.".php?op=DownloadsListBrokenDownloads\">"._BROKENDOWN."</a>: $brokend<br>";
After that line, add the following:
$result = $db->sql_query('SELECT COUNT(*) FROM ' . $prefix . '_gcal_event WHERE approved = 0'); $row = $db->sql_fetchrow($result); $content .= "<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href=\"{$admin_file}.php?op=gcalendar\">Calendar Events</a>: {$row[0]}<br>";
|
I can't find that line in the mainfile.php and although I did find the waiting content area and get around it I thought you might want to post a change. The version of RN I'm working with is 2.10.01 |

firstwiseman, you may not find that exact line, but it is there in effect. It might look a bit different for RavenNuke. Realize that the instructions were written for the original PHP-Nuke, not RavenNuke. |

The equivalent line in RN2.10.01 is at line 1147 in mainfile.php:
Code:
$content .= '<strong><big>·</big></strong> <a href="'.$admin_file.'.php?op=DownloadsListBrokenDownloads">'._BROKENDOWN.'</a>: '.$brokend.'<br /></span>';
|
If you start adding the changes after that you should be good to go. Enjoy! ![Cool](modules/Forums/images/smiles/icon_cool.gif) |

I just noticed that trailing </span> tag. You should probably remove that from the last $content .= and add it onto whatever I had you add.
I will revisit these instructions for the next release. Thanks! |

Right, I did get it working at around line 1147. I just thought you might like to know about it in case other users run into the same issue. Thanks again. |
