Installing in test directory, then moving finished product

I'd like to know how to go about installing RN in a test directory (that part I know how to do), moving all my forums posts, news, etc over to the new installation, testing and double testing everything, then moving it all to the root of my domain so I don't have to do redirects anymore.

Help please.

well if you wanna do it like that i suggest the other way around....

1- install test site.
2- import all you want from old database to new database.
3- while doing that dont accept new users and close your forum,otherwise these 2 go out of sync.
4- when all is done then your test site has to be moved to the root,done by simple ftp root command.
5- point that site to the new database...

There are different ways to do this but I simple copied my site into a folder mysite.com /testsite changed the data in config.php and NukeSentinel administration etc. and I used some tools e.g. bigdump to get the current data back into the database tables.
When thats all done and it works perfectly I would only need to override the files from site A with the files from the testsite and change the database path in config.php.
