I've installed nuke ... lots! and here I have a problem I've never seen before on a brand new install.
Version 7.2 ... 7.2 patches applied.
Created a new god account (works) ... login to admin.php (works) ... click on anything, like preferences or messages ... get booted out of admin, back to the admin login!
I've reinstalled the db twice, same thing happens.
I've tried deleting cookies.
The only thing I can think of is that the domain was just purchased a couple of hours ago, and I'm still waiting for the dns to propagate. And I'm using something like http://homedomain.com/~newdomainuser.
Could that propogation be an issue? (I doubt it, because I've setup a nuke before propagation, but it was an earlier version.) Has anyone seen anything like this before? Is there a workaround? |

Until the dns is propagated I use, and can access the domain like the one above
The problem is that whenever I try to do anything in admin, I get booted out, back to the admin login. |

No I didn't mean you should post your url but... how you had your "Settings" for the domain presently.
Using your example as an example |

For arguements sake since others have recently posted some trouble with mainfile.php in the patched series how about replacing that with distro packed one as a test? |

ok ... I replaced the mainfile.php with the original distro file. But the problem didn't go away.
odd ... I can get into admin, but can't do anything without getting booted out. |

Hmn strange the security image doesn't show in the login block either. But works on the create account page. Makes it seem like it could just be a pathing issue. |

ya ... like something to do with the dns propagation? Or maybe I missed something in the install? My ftp program burped during the file transfer, but I thought I checked it all.
I can't seem to stay logged in as a user either... the account I created with the admin account. I get logged in, but then when I go to Home, it says I'm anonymous. Although when I click on the feedback module, it puts my nick and email into the first two fields. |

I'm going to try using the IP instead of the domain in the config settings. I can change that using phpmyadmin.
... that didn't work either.
hmm... maybe I need to put the port number there.
nope ... didn't fix anything. |

PHP Sessions maybe? Since the cookie is working for your preferences. If the session is being set but the domains don't match between the 2? Sessions will probably be normal once the domain resolves. |

That makes sense, sessions is the path problem. Only I've never seen this issue before!
Oh well, no one said I had to have it all working today. I'll go find some other issue and get back to you all when this issue is resolved. |

A couple of things, and i am not experienced, have you tried logging in to it from another pc. We had someone that was a user with the same problem and it urned out he had changed his computer date whilst using the calendar to book his holidays. When he put in the correct date he could login again |

I found your post through a search of site about the same problem you were having.
I had 2 of RAVEN's 7.0 distro running on my domain with one common database. Running very smoothly....
However, I wanted my "site" located in a subdirctory of my domain to have it's OWN database (as I found that ONE database between more that one PROGRAM mirrors all the programs.
Therefore I went through the proper steps (new database with all new tables) etc. I was able to create an admin/user accounts. Do all my customizing of my preferences, blocks & modules.
During this time, I had logged in and out of my Admin account over the past couple of days without a hitch...accessing various options in my Admin control panel (this is just in a sub directory of my current website, so NO DNS problems are involved with this setup).
Today, after having worked several times on this site, I went back into my Admin panel to do some more work, after logging into my admin panel, I get "bumped" back to my Admin Log-in screen after trying to select any option in the control panel.
I have never had this happen before, I don't get any errors just a rotating action from my Admin log-in to the panel and back to the Admin Log-in screen whenever I select an operation in the panel. I even lose "Admin" status when going from the panel to the HOME page, as I would like to EDIT the RAVEN's package welcome screen.
I have cleared log-out of Admin, cleared the cookies database, rebooted, and tried using the ADMIN panel over and it still goes into a "merry-go-round" cycle again.....
Any ideas???? |

I checked my db and found that several errors showed files had not be closed properly!!!!!!!
My problem was NOT logging-out when I switched to something else...it is working fine now |
