CChat blank screen, SPChat gen'd error code "Fatal Erro

ClearChat is indeed, not working with this version (I wonder if it is because mySQL is incompatible with it?).....

Is there another chat that acts like ClearChat out there that I can use? I tried SPChat but, even after activating the blocks and the modules, nothing is showing up. Generated

***Error message:Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in <<edited by admin>>modules/SPChat/inc/user.inc.php on line 646***

if anyone has any ideas why or what is causing or not causing:

1. clearchat not post any messages after submit

or

2. why spchat isn't even showing up?

BTW, I edited out your full path details as this isn't good to show others in a public domain (sorry that I did not catch that earlier in the other thread).

You have to figure out what on that line or close around it is causing this error. I wonder too if it could have to do with your PHP version? Maybe this version of SPChat is not compatible with your version of PHP. It just sounds like an incompatibility in the use of objects or it is possible that something isn't being returned right (like you say) from the db or .....

Can someone show uses or has used SPChat help out?

It's been such a long day....i don't have a problem with you doing anything to my posts....really.

I'm just now reviewing the Cchat's input and with all the JS in there...I wonder if that was a problem (like Shout Box's JS).....

Shrugs....I think perhaps my mySQL and/or php versions are incompatible?

I'm running 4.x php, mySQL 5 (currently but db was imported at 4.x compatibility)?

Also, I am reading about spchat's vulnerabilities and I am beginning to wonder what else to try.

My brother is in the Army so their computers are HEAVILY guarded (no JS but the absolute basics) and Cchat did work in the past and he loved it. However, ever since I moved to a new hosting company .... well... broken now...oh well.

Do you have any other ideas on what I can use? Instant chat (acts like the shoutbox)...

Unfortunately I have never played with any of the Chat tools, but I believe there are several that have been discussed here and some rather recently in the RN forums too.
