Hammering......what is it? and how can you change it?

i have nuke instant messenger on my site & people keep getting banned for hammering....is there a way to change the setting so people can use the instant messenger without a problem???

Look in NukeSentinel(tm) administration and try adjusting these 2 settings:

Page Delay: (in seconds)
Flood Delay:
