New registration problems

Guys... I'm getting this error everytime someone tries to register as a member on my website.

Warning: mail(): Failed to connect to mailserver at "localhost" port 25, verify your "SMTP" and "smtp_port" setting in php.ini or use ini_set() in C:\xampp-win32-1.4.2\xampp\htdocs\html\modules\Your_Account\index.php on line 146

It seems to allow one to register but when they hit finish so they will get the activation email that the website is suppose to send back they get the above message and never gets the email.

Does anyone know how to resolve this?

Do you run your own mail server or are you trying to use your ISP's mail server?

Hey Raven.... As of now I guess I'm on neither. I'm what you call, A ROOKIE!!! LOL. Real GreenHorn!! If I may ask, what would you suggest? I would like to know how to do both if it's not much trouble.

I was also wondering if you had TeamSpeak, and if so would you be willing to get on my TS server and chat with me about some of this stuff?
