I'm new to using MySQL and have created a database but i have NO idea how to assign privileges to my user so i can install my PHP stuff, any help would be brilliant.

How did you create your database? It can depend on the system you are using.

i'm using PLESK and it's built in CP which usaes phpmyadmin

In phpMyAdmin once you have created your User go your database and select Privileges. Then click Edit Privileges for the User and then assign All Privileges.

I've never used Plesk, but I suspect you may be able to use that also.

In Plesk, once you add the database, you'll have an area to add database users. Smile
