Editing user profile "Default Fields"

So I have searched google and the forum regarding how to change/edit the default fields in the admin/user config the best I came up with is from this post that hasnt been answered since 2009.

I would also like to change the last field 'Interests' to 'Bio' so users can write a paragraph about themselves which will then show in the profile.

How would I do this? The text editbox would become the same size as the Signature field when updating your profile.

I only need the 1st part of this is changing the profile from saying AIM, ICQ etc (that hardly anyone uses anymore) to something more up to speed like Facebook link, Cell Number etc. Havent done this for awhile so if someone could point me to the file and which parts to edit I'll take care of it. ie. modules/Forums/lang_eng/main.php edit every instance of 'ICQ' to Tel Number

In the admin-area of the Your_Account module (Edit Users) you can deactivate fields.

/admin.php?op=yaUsersConfig

There you can also add custom fields without any code changes.

/admin.php?op=yaCustomFields

If you are familar with PHP you can do it also manually in the related files of the Your_Account module but you have to compare each variable with the database fields.

Please note: The Forums module is only a brigde and mirrors the data of the Your_Account database fields! If you want add new fields also in the Forums module, then you have to change the related Forums files and also the related theme files.
