Does anyone know if there is a mod out there that allows people to click on a button to forward a post or part of a post in the Forums area to someone via email?

Thank you,

I am sorry, I should have posted that before. *LOL* Here is the link, you may have to be registered to download, I don't remember for sure though

Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login!

If that link doesn't work correctly it is called "Tell a Friend"

Hope I have been helpful. Smile

Awesome, that was very helpful Curtis. Have you installed it yourself? I am wondering because I downloaded it and tried to install it. However when I click on a topic, I get the following error message:

Parse error: parse error, unexpected T_OBJECT_OPERATOR in /home/earthlh/public_html/earthcommcenter/modules/Forums/viewtopic.php on line 1287

I've discovered that if I comment out the following line in line 1287 of viewtopic.php, the error disappears and my forums are accessible to everyone once again:

template->assign_vars(array(
"TELL_LINK" => append_sid("http://".$HTTP_SERVER_VARS['HTTP_HOST'].$HTTP_SERVER_VARS['PHP_SELF']."?name=Forums&file=tellafriend&t=$topic_id", true)));

However, of course, the Tell a Friend feature doesn't work. I'm a bit puzzled because these lines do not refer to T_OBJECT_OPERATOR. I checked all of the other modifications I was supposed to make and everything else seems to be OK.

I'm just wondering if you installed it, if you had any problems such as this one, if you have any ideas, etc.

Thanks very much for any help or ideas you can provide!

Brent

By the way, this mod appears to require the smtp function be enabled in phpbb, have you tried that yet? Just curious.

P.S. I also posted this question on portedmods.com

No problem, that would be great. I'm not sure if the smtp function is enabled or not but since everyone is getting notified when making posts in my forums, doesn't that mean it must be enabled? I'll poke around and try to find the settings for that.

Curtis I looked and my SMTP feature is not turned on in phpbb. However in the readme file it says the SMTP feature isn't necessary.
