how to disable a block/module?

An admin who is no longer using our site improperly installed a module. Now with the module active and the block active, navigating to mysite/admin.php automatically re-directs you to that module. any way to deactivate it? I can't directly navigate to blocksAdmin as it redirects me as well.

Use phpMyAdmin and edit the modules table. Set the 'active' column to zero. Another way is to just remove the module from the modules folder. Nuke will automatically remove it from the table. You could also rename the module.

I tried removing the folder, and renaming it. each time it gives an error when i navigate to /admin.php

I'll use phpMyAdmin and see if that works.

Turn the block off also in the blocks table.

didn't work, it's already at 0 Sad

going to mysite/admin.php still redirects to the same module. argh.

Examine admin.php and see if there is some kind of an override.
