I am having a really weird problem with admin.php. I can launch the file, enter the admin ID, password, security code but when I press enter, I get the error message .php (File dot php) does not exists. I double-checked the file existed with the proper php extension.
File does not exist: /home/stats/public_html/.php

Thanks

Did you add this line to admin.php ==> define('ADMIN_FILE', true);

Sorry Raven. It was a mistake due to the fact that my previous config.php did not get overwritten. The config.php file in the patched version has this variable: $admin_file = "admin"; which was not in my other file.
Sometimes ftp "write" fails on my host and I don't get an error either.

This is a suggestion for the Nuke Experts. Possibly add an error checking code so that if it does not see the variable $admin_file in config.php it will throw an exception stating for example "Wrong version of config.php". Im my case, without the hint you provided above, I would not have even the slightest idea to check for variables.

Thanks for your time and great contribution to PHPNuke.
