PhpNuke version: v6.7 (modded)
PhpBB version: v2.0.6
PhpBB DB size: 776MB
Lately, users (and I feel it too) complain about error pages after posting messages in forums. it can take upto 2-3 attempts to post a message to the forums successfuly.
The thing is that not always phpbb saves the message, so going back is not always a good solution, especially when trying to send long responses.
I've checked (3 times in the last month) with my host (site5.com), and they say everything looks fine. Myself, I didn't change anything in the last month. the only thing that came in mind is the size of PhpBB's DB, which is over 750MB!
Can this be the problem? What's phpbb's DB file recommended size anyway? if not, what should I check? do you have any idea where to start looking for a problem?
Thanks in advance! |

I see the surprised faces... I should have told you I also use the attach_mod, so the files uploaded might affect the DB size, right? |

Use phpMyAdmin and run a REPAIR on your database and then OPTIMIZE the database. |

Hi...
well im not sure if the function is in the standard version..
But that table just keeps track of your members online and when, what time etc...
Its realy not that usefull..
I suggest you contact Mat of matyscripts and ask him how to prevent this ..
I use ms analysis pro and allthough i would like to see it different ,the pro has a "msanalysis_online" of one hour.
After that the table is emptied. |

Ok, I've emptied the table. now the biggest table is nuke_bbsearch_wordmatch = 39.5MB, that's after I've emptied nuke_IP_Tracking = 193MB... |

Dear Raven (long time no talk, btw), do you refer to nuke_bbsearch_wordmatch or to nuke_IP_Tracking to keep? |

Keep the WordSearch. If you run NukeSentinel and have IP Tracking on then you don't need that table and you should turn all other IP tracking off. |

Guys, is there a way to schedule this repair+optimize thingy? it seems to have helped a lot! |

Hmmm... I do use NukeSentinel, and as you could see I also use IP Tracking (is there a way to truncate the saved information for this one?). I've disabled MS-Analysis yseterday, after seeing the monstrous size its table got to... is that what you meant? any other advice I could use? |

You normally should not have to REPAIR. MySQL will let you know when you need that, by not working
The Optimize could be scheduled via a cron job. It's available from your Nuke Admin Control Panel. Just remember to run it once a month or so. |
