Forums permissions problem

Whenever I change the permissions in the forums configuration and there Select a forum - > Forum Permissions Control mode -> after I click submit I get a page full with hieroglyph e.g.:

ö,)c,«x”œ*ÕI¥(tm)æT×«.›*ÈÇ0€;

The same problem is also with the User Admin permissions after I select a user. Any ideas why this happens and how to fix this ?

solved, comment or delete - global $do_gzip_compress;

file : page_footer_admin.php, forums/admin directory

Permissions have been updated Thanks cacat. I know there was a post about strange characters, but couldn´t find it. Smile

I had the same problem, and the fix suggested by cacat did the trick. But, is this going to cause a different problem down the road?

I can confirm this fixed the issue.
I'm not sure WHY some are having this issue and others not - possibly related to the setting of gzip enabled in the forum config?

gzip compression if OFF for me.

i'm glad it worked.
my first host- ipowerweb - had this problem. I used 7.5 first, they i upgraded to 7.9, both distros had to be fixed.
Then i switched to bluehost, same problem with raven's 7.6.
cant tell you why, but so far so good with that fix.
