Admin Auth workaround? .htaccess & php

Hi All,

I have a slight issue with my admin auth.

I had sentinel setup and running perfect on CGIAuth until my ISP upgraded their server CGI platform.

I have now been told the following...

An overall increase in security on the new CGI platform means .htaccess directives are not applied to:

.php files
.php3 files
Files inside your cgi-bin directory

Shocking, i know.

My .htaccess still works, i have my 404's etc. and all is fine, i can block everything i always could before, except php files.

So you see my dilema. Is there any possible workarounds? I've tried wildcards etc. in my .htaccess but to no avail. It just serves up php without any dialogs.

Am i going to have to do without this function?

It's a pity if i have, cos it's a nifty little piece of software, and i am slightly miffed that due to my ISP i can't use it's full potential, which i have previously been able to do.
