I've tried a couple of supposedly phpBB 2.0X approved styles that worked with one of my standalone phpBB forums but they don't display correctly in my RN phpBB forum.

I'm trying to find a RNphpBB forum style that will blend nicely with this Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! template.

Thanks,

Kerry

I know you don´t wont hear that but first make absolutely sure that your template works correct and the best way to do the forums style just make it by your own. Thats my opinion about this.

Got it. I'm still working on getting the default RNphpBB to work correctly. It displays very light Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! so something's wrong. I posted a question about it on the Templates forum.

I did create a style several years ago but forget now how I did it. I recall just renaming subSilver and entering the colors I wanted. It was confusing because not all of the .css descriptions describe, to my way of thinking, what the field is in subSilver. Lots of trial and error. It would be nice if there was a .css form that had lines going to each field of the forum.

Thanks Susann.

I think that your theme is using CSS that is interfering with subSilver.

Check in your forums administration Styles/Themes subsilver.

Good sleuthing, right you are. I reverted back to the default fisubice and sure enough the forum displays correctly.

Poop, that was a waste of $35 and there was no way to know up front that it wouldn't work on Raven Nuke. Too bad. I really like those colors.

Boy, someone did a lot of work. That's cool. For me I need step by step instructions. There's too many areas of doubt on that forum for me.

Looks like I need to find a selection of themes that absolutely work for RN.

Thanks so much.

Kerry, I am afraid that you are are really missing the point with this issue. It is NOT that your theme does not WORK for RN. It is simply that you are using a theme and not a theme pack. So, your site shows your theme but no foroum skin to match. A theme pack contains a theme and a matching forum skin. There is nothing at all wrong with your theme. You just have to use your theme and then do what everyone said and go to your forums admin page. Then to the styles admin. Click to edit subSilver and then change your colors there. If you are NOT able to do this you will need to find a theme pack to use that you like and not just a theme. Your theme DOES work with RN.

If your theme does NOT have a forum folder in it (most do not), your site will use the default subSilver forum skin. This is not a flaw but simply the way that nuke works. That is why subSilver is so easily edited in the forums admin page via the styles admin. I hope that this clears it up for you. People have attempted to explain this several times and it seemed to have escaped you. I hope that this helped you to understand.

Redhairz, it is almost imposible to find a nuke phpBB forum skin unless it is part of a theme pack. This is where a theme and forum skin are created to look the same, much like this one on Raven's site (fisubice).

Basiclly the options are:

To use a standalone nuke theme and alter the subSilver css to match your theme.
To learn how to create your own nuke phpBB skin to match your theme.
Find a theme pack that contains both.

It is confusing to most people until they become more familiar with nuke theme/forum system. I hope that this helps you to understand more clearly.

Sorry Kerry, when I split out some posts I hit the wrong button. This was your last post that I wanted to keep:

Thanks. Sure wish we could afford it. We're a 501(c)(3) nonprofit education org and there's no budget for such niceties. We have 15 webs/subwebs each of which which have inexpensive store-bought FrontPage themes/templates.

I'll play around with a copy of subSilver and try to customize it so that its colors match the 9999 PHP-Nuke 8,0 template we bought—till then I'll stick with RN's defaults.

It appears I have RN installed correctly so I'm excited to see what we can do with it. It's so perfect for educational tutorials.

Thank you,

Kerry
