What features would you like to see?

I only started using this module 2 days ago and love it. As was stated above by 64bitguy, I would like to see the ability to select/deselect required fields in the admin panel. My site is sort of cancer related and there are a lot of privacy issues with requiring real name, even though they don't have to enter their "real name". This would be a real nice feature.

Thank you for this mod! It's very helpful in my site. My site is designed to educate those who suffer from trauma/stress related disorders of the more severe sort...I have some men from the veterans hosptial use the site, but privacy is a big issue. Ans since sometimes there is trouble with some members, I have a need for profile privacy. I only started using the mod today, but here are some ideas I have so far:

Large text box to enter usernames, username, username

And to do this for each extra account privledge (maybe for blocks and mod on an individual basis?)

4. I would like to see an option for making profiles private. Where a user may choose to stop certain members from viewing their profiles.

5. Fields that are visible only to admin. So that admin could keep a note of a troublesome user for other admins and future references.

6. I will be having classes and workshops for users, and would also like to be able to enter a list of various classes, and so on that they have attended and notes about such.

Hope these aren't too far out for the mod!

I am using CNB on my website as it supports not using account activation emails
Could you please support one of the following features though:

1: secret question and answer to retrieve passwords
Or at least a custom page when users look for lost password

2: mail server support
Instead of using php's mail() function to send out emails a configurable mail server with hostname/user/password/etc (I’m not sure how but phpbb boards do this)

Also could you make change the administration of the registration page so it can edit al fields apart from username and password, as I would like to remove almost all of the fields from the initial registration.

I have only recently started using CNBYA, and I am like CurtisH. I like to remove those dead members who never access the site.
I would like to see an option to send users a reminder email to log in after x amount of inactivity.
Previously I did all of this manually using the "Last Visit" mod. After 30 days of inactivity they received a warning email to log in or lose their account. If another 30 days passed and they had not logged in, I terminated the account.
It would be wonderful to do this automaticly, only suspend users initially rather than deactivate.

Thanks, I already have List Visit installed. I have been using it to implement my 30 day rule, however, since you can not set time parameters in it, and I have never been able to get the free version I use to mass mail successfully--not to mention it would be super nice for it to all be automatic--I'd still like to see it as a feature of CNBYA.

Some things:

1) With CNBYA, the icons in your profile, the icons get changed (not sure if those are CNBYA. Perhaps you can add icons you need and leave the other icons. And also if you still add your own icons, make them transparent GIFs. Right now the icons have a white box and it doesn't look very good on dark backgrounds Smile

2) Add a Karma system (the PhPnuke Karma system is wierd, does anybody use it?). On other forums, Karma can be given by users to other users. That way, if you post something really good or help out with problems, users can give you a point. This way users can award other users for doing good things. It's like the points system in CNBYA, except given by users instead of the system. So you can have POINTS and Karma points. Good deeds give you +1 from the users and bad deeds can get you -1 from users. Karma points should be limited so USER A can only give USER B +1 point once per day or every 6 hours, etc, etc.

The best place is to put a +1 karma link in the PHP forums under the users avatar. But since you don't do forum integration this can be addeds by the modders. But you can add it to the Memberslist, Just add a Karma column with +1 or -1 and a confirmation before the point gets added just in case they clicked the wrong one. Something like:

USER/Points/Karma
Allanon / 450 / + 125 -
The + or - would only show if you HAVEN'T given that user Karma today yet. Once you add the karma, the symbols would disappear.

And you can add a Karma Link also when USERS look up member profiles.

OR

The other option is to add it into the CNBYA points system so that users can also give other users points. It will just be added to the POINTS total. A +1 or -1. User Points GIVING can be turned OFF/ON in the Admin CP.

I know this thread is old but I was wandering if I might suggest something. I would like to see the ability to add/remove fields in the profiles. Somthing that will allow for custom feilds would be an awsome nuke addition.

Coppa is part of the ported phpBB forum so that won't change in a hurry but you could probably remove it manually, though it would be a pain to keep track of with each forum update.
I think CNBYA 5 or as some are now calling it Vapourware 5 has the ability to add additional profile fields.

As far as I know, CNBYA is not publicly available and if you do manage to get your hands on it, it is still alpha code - not for production sites.

We last hear from the author around September, when he said he might have something out by December. It's been through several test / Beta versions, but several important issues remain as of the most recent version.

Well, I guess we will have to wait for the new release.
In the meantime, I will try to modify version 4.4.2, that I use for now.

Idea. Maybe this is not for CNBYA but it would be integrated. I would like to see a re-direct such that when someone (user or non-registered user) hits a link or forum or other page that is RESTRICTED or perhaps they are not logged in, the url request would be memorized, an appropriate page given (please log in, please join the group, page not available, notify the administrator..). The login page comes up if applicable, then takes the user to the requested page. Currently, the "you are trying to enter a restricted area" isn't appropriate for some people who just haven't logged in. It's something that I've been thinking about for a long time but haven't quite figured out if it is a new module or just a mod to mainfile. Thoughts?

You could do that simply by modifying the main language file.

I don't agree but perhaps I don't understand your suggestion. The main language file would only change the screen presentation. I'm talking about a process change. For example, today we have:
1) A user, not logged in, hits a forum link.
2) The page typically shows Restricted wording and then leaves him thinking maybe he can't access that area.
3) Process stops and the requested url is lost.

Preferred Process:
2) Page recognizes the url (forum, article, whatever).
3) Takes the user to a page where he can log in or register or join group etc.
4) Once logged in, takes the user to the original requested url.

This is typically what I see with business websites where you don't lose the user or his request just because they aren't logged in. Shopping carts do the same thing, remembering your cart while you register for checkout.

The expansion would include recognizing you are not a member of a certain group and offering alternatives depending on the group status.

I was thinking more in terms of altering the language file so that the log-in link could be incorporated within the message and even altering the message itself to something more meaningful.

The requested uri would indeed be lost as nuke doesnt handle this too well. Fortunately as nuke usually employes a redirect to the modules index page it should be possible to capture the requested url with something like $REQUEST_URI and place that into a variable which is then posted back when the user is prompted to log in.

I'm fairly sure as far as the forums go that virgin nuke does take you back to the original forum post when you log in to save you hunting for the post again so this might possibly be something specific to to CNBYA
