custard change $display_errors = FALSE to TRUE in your config.php and see if there is more information. Check also the tables nuke_users. Are there duplicate entries ? Does the nuke_users_ temp table exist in your database ?

Not trying to steal the thread, just want to also ask if you are seeing the captcha (where they have to enter in 5 letters that are shown on the page).

Ok ummm where do I start....

Susann ive done as you have suggested and nothing more than 'Registration Error !' comes up

Both the user tables are fine in the database, originally i was preparing for two sites to use the same user tables and had set it up for nuke1_ for normal tables and nuke_ for the user tables and the config.php reflects those changes fine. I even reverted back to the standard setup too with the same results.

Montego .. The captcha comes up fine and asks fot eh 5 chars, once you input them you click finish and thats when the error occurs.

hitwalker .. below is the linky to the site, ive since started to setup my theme etc etc and a few modules so excuse the clutter at the min Laughing

Thanks very much for your supports people !!

Rename your installations folder ! I did only a quick check and the validation check displayed too many errors. Sometimes, I wonder that such websites still work.
With such errors I would check it also with a standard theme like fisubice wich is W3C valid and without your "cool stuff".

Susann if you just tried it I was reinstalling nuke lol so you probably saw a million errors, i deleted the installation folder originally and have again now, i just thought something might have messed up with the original upload... but the problem still exists Sad.

Ive tried everything apart from a completely new install of everything.

i just cant work it out at all.

thanks for you input thou

Sounds to me like either your nuke_users_temp or nuke_users tables are corrupt or not complete, OR, it is also possible that sessions at the server level are not properly set up (for this, you may need to address with your host).

Ok im gonna redo the database and see what happens.... Ive run a few nuke sites with this host now and they have been ok, so Im thinking its got to be something Ive done.

custard, you are not stupid and you have also not wasted our time. You had an issue that you were not sure how to deal with and we were able to help you to the point where you decided to re-do the installation, and now you are up and running. That, to me, is still a success!

Hello,
I got the info that my site does not register new users. I do have the same problem as custard with only one difference, I did an upgrade from RN v2.10.00 to v2.10.01. (captcha is ok! Even $gfx_chk = 0; does not work)
I am not sure if my tables are ok, but I did not get an error during upgrade.

If I turn on all debug flags, I still get only the message 'Registration Error!'.

I can not rebuild the tables as the site is online now for a while. What can I do to find out the reason for the 'Registration Error!' ?

You can check it on fellpartner.de if you whant (btw, Shortlinks does work Smile)

You first need to repair this:

Warning: imageftbbox() [function.imageftbbox]: Could not read font in /www/htdocs/xxx/fp/includes/class.php-captcha.php on line 298

Warning: imagefttext() [function.imagefttext]: Could not read font in /www/htdocs/xxx/fp/includes/class.php-captcha.php on line 306

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /www/htdocs//fp/includes/class.php-captcha.php:298) in /www/htdocs/xxx/fp/includes/class.php-captcha.php on line 322

and then I try to register. So long !

benson, I do not recall us making any DB changes for 2.10.01, so if 2.10.00 was working previously, 2.10.01 should also be. In addition, the captcha was added for 2.10.00 and again, I do not recall us making any changes for 2.10.01. Are you certain that you were previously running just fine under 2.10.00, with the new captcha, BEFORE going to 2.10.01, and not really on a 2.02.x version? If so, then I suspect your host, or you, have changed something.

Those errors that Susann is pointing out sure leads me to believe you or your host has changed something.

Hi,
that is the contents of $sql at the moment the error occurs. But there is no field requestor in the table nuke_users_temp.

Code:
INSERT INTO nuke_users_temp (user_id, username, user_email, user_password, user_regdate, check_num, time, requestor) VALUES (NULL, 'benson3', 'benson@fellpartner.de', 'cf1e8c14e54505f60aa10ceb8d5d8ab3', 'Jun 07, 2007', 'fe4bd7fc2a505568093d21c5e3c08c67', '1181219601', '192.168.2.100:12604 ')

That is what I found in rn_resendemail.sql (INSTALLATION directory).
Code:
ALTER TABLE $prefix.`_users_temp` ADD `requestor` varchar(25) NOT NULL default '' AFTER `time`;

So, it seams that I missed one step in previous upgrades ?

Ok, that missing field is now added and it should work no ... Try it Smile

Best regards and again many thanks for the 'hint',

Benson

benson, yes, that was missed in your 2.02.02 to 2.10.00 upgrade. Sure glad you found that! Very good!

I just registered. First I got " Registration Error! " But after refresh it did the trick.
However you should check if that works also without refresh.

Hi,

I put an empty index.html file in directory /includes/fonts that could be the reason for the 'imageftbbox()' warnings mentioned above ...

I do not know the code for this function, but I assume that somwhere in that code the directory is scanned and all files that were found are interpreted as fonts. Maybe someone can add a check that that only *.ttf is read or index.* and .htaccess etc. files are ignored ? (Or if I am wrong, just ignore me Smile)

Susann,
obviously you were to fast for me and the database update wasn't done ... I tried it again a few minutes ago and it worked.
Definitely the missing field `requestor` was the reason for my 'Registration Error!' ...

Best regards, Benson

benson, Bingo! Yes, I believe you are correct about the includes/fonts directory. The code does read all the files and any non-font files can cause issues. I have seen that mentioned here before but did not connect the dots in my brain until now.

All you need to do is this:

Code:

ALTER TABLE `nuke_users_temp` ADD `requestor` varchar(25) NOT NULL default '' AFTER `time`;
