Hello,

I have a new install of RN and just found a problem that I am having. I am unable to add myself (god user) or anyone else as a forum admin. I have no problem setting mods, but can't set/add an admin.

No errors and it seems to proceed and show a successful addition. I was able to add an admin manually through the database.

I've searched this forum and can't find any info on this. If I missed something I apologize. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

What exactly do you mean by Forum Admin?

Are you talking about under User Permission Controls the option to set the User Level to Administrator?

...or just giving them the rank of Site Admin?

I mean when going into the forum admin panel and then selecting user permissions. There is a drop down menu that lets you choose between user and admin. I am trying to set myself as an admin in the forum so I can delete posts. When I select admin and hit the button on the bottom of the page I get "update successful", but when I go to the forum I am still a regular user. When I check permissions again I see it was not updated.

Are any errors being generated? (is error_reporting turned on?)

I turned error reporting on when I was trying to find the issue and no errors were reported.

I think this has something to do with the missing permissions somewhere, but the quick fix would be to use phpMyAdmin and set the user_level entry to 2

I did go into the database and changed the user_level to 2 and it worked fine. Just reporting this just in case this was something that needed to be addressed or other people have found the same issue. Not sure if it is just an isolated thing.

Ok I know I am sort of late on this one, but if the user is logged in while trying to change his permission, it will not take affect. The user HAS TO BE LOGGED OUT. I had this problem for days! Hours upon hours I spent fishin through forums and eventually came across this answer. Maybe the folks at Raven can look into the validity of this issue and solution and note it somewhere where it can be easily found. It worked for me, maybe it will come in handy for others.
