Spam with attached PDF is the new generation.
Three-fourths of spam e-mails I´ get are with attached PDF.
The most is Stock Spam.
Seems viagara and other pills aren´t popular anymore.
What will be the next ? |

I am seeing those too (PDF spam). Googled it and that's what they are doing, for the time being the PDF is hidden from spam filters. I don't even open them, afraid they might have viruses, etc.
One pernicious permutation I saw was a "you have a greeting card" with a link to a web page. How tempting is that to click on ... "oh my someone is sending me a greeting card, it's been ages" and then kaboom. |

I quess to many have good filters for those spam mails with images so PDF spam is more effective.I don´t open them anymore but I´ve got at last a lot of Stock spam and I really hate this kind of spam sometimes its multilingual spam. But I´m pretty sure they are from countrys like Russia, China, USA etc.
Greeting cards is a very old trick I had faked mails from Ebay
Amazon and some others too. I never ordered a Laptop there about 1400 Euro but they told me you know the story ....
Someone said the next generation will be flash spam I don´t believe this and I think that doesn´t work |

Not sure what the scum will dream up next. I've seen a resurgence in the post card email - I mean, really, who is going to click on a link that only refers to a "friend" without using a specific name? I guess some must...
I can only say I hope school starts soon since the number of attacks has gone through the roof. It's too bad these kids don't have something better to do with their free time... |

yeah, been seeing both the PDF and greeting cards spam. However, BoxTrapper tends to stop them all because they never have a real email addy or human being behind them to substantiate their email address... I LOVE THAT THING! |

Problem is, its just like any other spam. It comes from all over the place and many times from unsuspecting victims who have been assimilated into a botnet by being hacked... (at least the professional, really sleezy spammers...) |

In Nuke? No. It's a module that runs on some mail servers. You will see it in some implementations of cPanel. Your host needs to actually allow it and make it available to you.
Most hosts, it seems, do not have this enabled because of the amount of mail it generates. Which makes sense if you think about it.....for every mail you get, the server sends one out. If that one comes back, the server moves the message to your inbox. Plus, for all the fake email addresses (most of them), the server also gets and manages all of the bounces for you. So this one email turned into 3 sets of connections. A lot of extra work on the server. |

There is also an interesting, but more general article in a recent New Yorker article.

I believe the period with PDF spam is already over. They found a better way and this spam looks like the typical behavior of dictionary attackers. |
