Hey,

I got Sentinel working on the site (So happy now).
Then when going through the Sentinel administration I saw some options about .htacces and other .xxxxx files.

Now I already found out that you are not allowed to use this with all hosts.
So all help is welcome.

Some short explanation what to do so that Sentinel can use it.
What does Sentinel do with this file?
etc...

To say it short: What do I have to do? At this time I can't see this file with my FTP program.

Thanx in advance

Kibosh

If Sentinel is running on an apache server, it can be configured to leverage the .htaccess file, which is an apache specific thing. Sentinel can write ban information into it, and thus the server will process the ban before it even gets to Nuke.

You may not be seeing it in your FTP program because either a) it isn't there (you have to create one), or b) your FTP program is treating it as a "hidden" file because it begins with a ".". You may have to tell your FTP client to show hidden files.

I can't find an option in my FTP program to show hidden files (I'm using SmartFTP Client), so I guess the file isn't there.

So then I have to create it.. How do I do that? Because I guess there has to be sommething in it??

It depends on your web hosting package but you just create a file named .htaccess in your root Nuke directory. Then in Sentinel administration you point at that file. Sentinel will probably find it and make a suggestion of what the path will be but you need to verify that. You can probably create the file with your Smartftp client also.
