Hey -

I rent a dedicated server from a company that shall remain nameless for the time being. All of a sudden I can't access my Plesk control panel, i.e.

https://mysite.com:8443

just returns an unable to connect in my browser. It worked this morning. Now it doesn't. I have rebooted the server, restarted apache, even re-ran the /etc/init.d/psa start script by hand (no obvious errors).

I don't think the problem is on my end, as I can access my old host's Plesk control panel (using https: and on port 8443).

I've got help tickets in with the host but I am itching for any troubleshooting advice and getting this resolved ASAP. Thanks.

I got it back working, but I don't understand it. I did some googling.
I had to delete the file

/usr/local/psa/admin/logs/httpsd.pid

and then did a

# service psa restart

That is odd. Before you deleted that file had you noticed the date/timestamp on it? Had it changed during the day?

Unfortunately have never used Plesk... was just curious on the file timestamp.

No I didn't notice. Apparently the file is created by plesk as a lock file and didn't get cleaned up after a reboot or something. When I tried to restart Plesk it was seeing that file already there and wouldn't start. At least that is my theory.
