I apologize in advance if this issue has been addressed already, I did search multiple times but did not find anything.

I just installed the latest build of RN on a test site to check it our before implementing on my main site, everything is golden except my themes in my forums are broken.

http://www.mswethanol.com/html/modules.php?name=Forums

is a link to the test site forums to check it out. Frames are messed up, debug mode does not throw up any errors so I'm not sure what is going on. The theme has been running fine on prior version of RN for over a year, so it must be something in this build affecting my theme.

Any insight is always greatly appreciated, thanks so much for this awesome portal.

What was the version number of the prior version of RN? Recent versions of RN now use XHTML for the doctype, and XHTML has some subtle differences from HTML. The theme might need to be tweaked.

I'm pretty sure it was 2.10.01

Ok, 2.10.01 was using XHTML, so that isn't the problem.

What is broken?

Have you checked your server error logs? Maybe re-upload your files with a good ftp client like FileZilla (free on sourceforge.net).

Loll wtf happened in that theme, the 'html' and 'body' are opened and closed several times for no apparent reason;

Code:
<html dir="ltr">

</body>
<body bgcolor="#0E3259" text="#000000" link="#006699" vlink="#5493B4" >

<html dir="ltr">

</body>
<html dir="ltr">

<body bgcolor="#0E3259" text="#000000" link="#006699" vlink="#5493B4" >

<html dir="ltr">

</body>
<html dir="ltr">

<html dir="ltr">

<html dir="ltr">

<html dir="ltr">

<html dir="ltr">

<html dir="ltr">

<html dir="ltr">

<body bgcolor="#0E3259" text="#000000" link="#006699" vlink="#5493B4" >

<html dir="ltr">

Also the links to this stylesheet and JS might require some clean-up, im not sure those paths are valid and/or picked up very well by all browsers.

Code:
<link rel="stylesheet" href="./itemstats//templates/wowhead.css" type="text/css"><script type="text/javascript" src="./itemstats//overlib/overlib.js">

Is a itemstats mod that causes items that are in [item][/item] tags to have a rollover with description of what that item is.

The theme was still broken before the itemstats went in and it is working well so I'm not sure if that is part of the problem. the "//" might be an issue though...

I will have to look into the html and body tags, see what has changed, also is there a way to be sure what version I was using? it had been so long since I originally did it, I do have an original site backup so if there is a file that has the version number in it I can check I would like to do so to confirm.

I'm going to re-download the original theme file and compare code/replace code to see if during installs and itemstats something didn't get jumbled.

I assume RN's default theme of fisubice works OK?

Not exactly, some graphics are missing. I have changed it back to the default fisubice and re-uploaded the original files of my custom theme direct from the company I bought it from.

If you want to click on the above link and you can see what the forums look like and what yours looks like.

Ok, I re-uploaded the Fisubice folder from the OLD RN backup I had and the default theme is working good now, the custom one is still not looking properly.

The tables are shifted to the right and the bottom area where the footer should be is broken, here is a link to the original theme from the site I purchased from, you can see how the forums should look:

Thanks again for quick replies and ideas.

I might have another issue that you guys might be able to help me with if I can resolve this one first. Very Happy

your problem persist in your <html><body> it seems somecode what should be in the header is called inside the body is called ... and this code is calledmultiple times.

If you check with firefox webbdevelloper add-on you can see what i mean.

I recommend this tool to view outputted source.

That issue is probably caused by (line 407);

Code:
<td width="28" valign="top" background="themes/WOW/images/spacer.gif"><img src="themes/WOW/images/spacer.gif" width="28" height="236"></td>  </tr></table></td></tr></table></td></tr></table>

Press ctrl + a and notice the spacer pic at the bottom left Wink

After that try to fix those empty html and body tags and make sure you dont forget this one (line 409);

Code:
<body leftmargin="0" topmargin="0" marginwidth="0" marginheight="0">

That way you can narrow down the problem Smile

Hey all, thanks for the replies and ideas.

Ended up fixing it by re-uploading my /includes directory, I am still going to have a look at those empty <html> tags. I'm sure that can't be good for it.

Now for the tinkering part =)
