Many of our community users are asking frequently that when Raven Nuke will include phpbb3 forum to the distro?
What is your general opinion of phpbb3? Do you have plan to integrate it to the Raven Nuke? |

There is a lot of interest in this, and it has had some discussion, but we don't yet have a formal plan to integrate RN and phpBB3. Most agree that it should be a bridge, rather than the tight integration PHP-Nuke originally had with phpBB2 (we've moved away from that, except for the user table, which is shared).
Just checking a Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! between 2 and 3, there are several interesting improvements:
* custom fields (we have this in RNYA, but could use additional field types)
* upgrade wizard
* File Merge Diff Update Engine
* permissions improvements
* ability to customize template, themes, image sets
* syntax highlighting (that will make Guardian happy!)
* custom bbcodes
I definitely think we should consider integration before we decide to do any further tweaks to phpBB2. |

I would like to see a good phpBB3 bridged into RN but I'm just a little worried it is a bit 'young' still.... |

Personally I would like to integrate a Forum plugin type system that could draw from the nuke user database and utilize any forum software. |

Loki,
That is the exact reason I had the bb2nuke forums split out of RavenNuke(tm). I have mentioned this in previous discussions and I think in Mantis also. The first step was to disassociate the overall process of bb2nuke from RN - partly done. Next we need to build the "Bridge" for other forums to "Plugin" to. I don't see any specific integration to any specific forum application until we have built the bridge. Now, it will make the most sense to use phpbb2/phpbb3 in our testing, but only because of our already familiarity with the product. Also, keep in mind that even though we have separated bb2nuke forums from RN integration, we are not actually using stock phpbb2 code. The code, internal, still is custom code. So, until we can take a virgin copy of the stand alone phpbb2 and get it to plugin to RavenNuke(tm) we haven't fully completed step one. |
