Domain + Hosting + MX Records

I have not done this for a few years so I cant remember how to do it now Sad

I have a domain name with companyA and hosting with companyB.

name servers are setup and not a problem but the email part i'm lost on.I think i change the mx record in companyA last time I did it

any ideas?????

You change the MX records with the hosting account.

I want to give the hosting server access so wouldn't I have to change the domain name host to my hosting

If you have pointed the domain hosting to your web hosting using nameservers you shouldn't need to do anything else and you should be able to setup emails through your web hosting.

Does that make sense, that is all I do.

ok then,

basically my domain name host has mx entries and my hosting account has mx entries.I just want to be able to check everything from my hosting account and only go to the domain name hosting when it's time to renew.

Unless your registrar is also your host there is no reason to have MX records with your registrar if your host offers email. MX records (Email) are only needed at your host.

admin@yourdomainname.com

I should not have to change anything correct?

No MX records at your registrar. For your host you need to make sure that in your email setup for yourdomainname.com you have a valid user named admin. And make sure that your Host MX records are pointing to yourdomainname.com
