I see that you can set up blocks and modules to be viewed by different groups, registered users, admins, or anonymous (unregistered).
Is it possible to HIDE a block by group instead of SHOW a block by group?
Basically, I want the block to be viewed by everyone except a specific group. Or in other words, the block will show until the user is added to the appropriate group that hides it.
Its the same concept as if you had advertising blocks that you wanted to hide from paying members or something like that.
Does this make sense? |

No. The core product does not come with this capability. |

This seems like a good suggestion for an enhancement. Let's have some feedback/discussion on this and see what others have to say. I am going to tweak the subject line just a little bit to (hopefully) garner more attention |

well if you are talking about more functionality as far as how blocks are configured/displayed I'm all for it
I think the "groupless" idea is a good one, or how about a block that displays once per session via cookies... or maybe in a modal window for extra pizazz ?
Ideally, I would also like to see users be able to drag-and-drop blocks (or hide) and arrange them as they like, something like this jquery/ajax script

I've had this for a little while now. Looking for ideas on how to have the user add blocks. Currently I have no way to bring a block back or add a block once it is "closed". This is cookie based.

wow! that is awesome!!!!
maybe add a thin "control block" at the top for adding and restoring blocks? You could set the site to display alot of blocks, but many are hidden until "activated" in the "control block"?? With a show/hide option in the blocks acp?
just thinking out loud |

I don't want to load all the blocks because depending on the blocks it could be a big hit to load times or sever resources. |
