A blessing request

My requests are not for me, but for a couple of fine people. I was released from the hospital yesterday after 7 days treatment for a diabetic foot ulcer. Unfortunately, although the ulcer was treated as soon as it surfaced, it was there for some time before it surfaced and I have developed osteomyelitis (bone infection). The worst case scenario for that is amputation, but my doctor is still treating me with I. V antibiotic drips and oral meds in the hope of healing it.

The medicines required to treat everything are quite expensive, and generics are not available for any of them. My insurance does not cover prescription meds, so I was looking at about $700 out-of-pocket every month over the next 5 months.

My doctor told me not worry about it. He somehow got all the meds I needed, gratis. He had everything in a bag for me at his office & said when I run out just come back for more. I have learned he does this quite often for his patients, because he is honestly less concerned about making money than saving lives.

It's easy to become cynical about doctors and hospitals in this day and age when you read so many bad things in the news, but there are people out there who really do care, from my wonderful doctor to the pharmacist who told me if I couldn't get my meds any other way to let him know and he would directly contact the drug companies to see if he couldn't get them for me discounted or free.

During my long stay in the hospital, my biggest concern was for my family. I am the only person who can drive and we live in a small town with no public transportation so my household was pretty well stranded while I was unavailable. A neighbor that I only know as an aquaintance noticed my car at the hospital and came to check on the family. She was a wonderful help, offering to drive them to the hospital and shopping. She has a crisis of her own coming up. She has been diagnosed with cancer and will be undergoing treatment soon.

Any blessings sent to these fine people would be deeply appreciated, most especially Joanne, so that her cancer will be successfully treated.

Oh heavenly Father, what a needy and desparate people we are! We thank you for the doctor(s) that found the ulcer problem that LadySilver has and we now ask that you would heal her foot infection and keep any more harm from her, if it be your will. We also thank you for such quickly answered prayer to supply the means for the medicine! Then Lord, we pray for this dear friend Joanne. Oh Lord, when we stop and wonder how we dwell on such insignificant issues compared to the real life crisis of cancer, we should be humbled to our knees! Thank you for Jesus Christ, The Author and Finisher of our Faith! Thank you for The Great Physician! Lord, please heal Lady Silver and Joanne and provide the needs to care for LadySilver's parents. We know that all that is done will be with the sole intent to bring honor and glory to your Son, Jesus Christ our Saviour, and it's in His name we pray - AMEN!

I wanted to post sincere thanks, and let everyone know what is happening. The ulcer is healing very rapidly. Last week it was 2cm wide x 2cm long x 3cm deep. Today it is only 1.7cm wide x 1.5cm long and 1.4cm deep. That is amazingly fast, considering injuries usually take months or even years to heal when you're diabetic. Friday marks the end of the Gentamicin drips, though I will continue the oral anitbiotic Levaquin for a few more weeks and continue with daily visits from my nurse for wound care. Best of all, my doctor believe the bone infection has cleared. Very Happy

My neighbor Joanne is doing much better too. She had some news last week that did a lot to lift her spirits. Her daughter is going to have twin sons! Very Happy

She was showing us the sonograms last week, and both babies seem healthy and strong.
