I have RN installed on 3 sites, one of which I like to use soley as a testing ground for making changes. Most useful for someone with a very limited knowledge of RN or PHP Nuke.

Given the disk space I have available on those sites, I have attempted from time to time to place an image(s) or some other text file(s) which are non-RN. I get the 'not found on this server' message when I insert the URL into my browser.

Question: Is is possible to use a the disk space where you have a RN site (i.e. not the RN web site per se) for uploading other items, and if so, where would you place this file/folder/directory? What if I had some images I wanted friends to view, a Quicktime Slideshow, et cetera . . . where to place them? I tried to do so a various locations from the rdir to other locations but without success.

Thanks kindly,
namaste

Try removing the htaccess file and asking your host about it. RN should probably/shouldn't be causing this behavior.

In many shared server situations your overall root directory is public_html. The html directory that contains Ravennuke is often placed inside that ... so public_html/html.

You can place the files anywhere you want. You could create a /myfiles directory for instance under public_html. Or you could even put myfiles inside of the "RN" html directory. It really doesn't matter. If you have a domain name you are probably pointing the domain to public_html. So 201.77.44.55 (just making up a numeric IP) might be pointed to by www.mydomain.com and might resolve to www.mydomain.com/public_html/index.html.

But as Palbin said RN isn't causing the problem and you can serve up non-RN material just as easily or along side with RN material.
