Mandriva Linux

well i got bored downloaded the mandriva 2009 spring KDE iso burned it to disk.

installed. got to admit its quite plesent look is smooth. runs pretty decent.

only grips with it pulse audio still sucks and creates issues with me. and firefox is sluggish.

id give it a 4.2/5

Personally, I haven't found any operating system that works better then Ubuntu. I use it 99% of the time at home and work.

lol i know what you mean. i have 9.10 alpha on the lappy.

debian is my other fav. as it is pretty dang stable but.. some of the packages are old (ie pidgin version in there stable is the version with the non-working yahoo login)

fedora. is tricky for me to rate as it dose not like this box at all. but will install on the lappy fine and from using it a lil on the lappy i rate it a 4.3/5

debian i put at a 4.5/5 (the older packages cost it a couple tenths of a point)

ubuntu id give a 4.7/5 but pulse audio gives me a ton of issues on this box. kubuntu i have to give a 45 since kde4 dont seem to work good on this box.

i love KDE and tbh i like mandriva kde over kubuntu idk if its me but mandriva seems to have gotten kde4 more stable then kubuntu has.

ill toss a screen shot of mandriva tomarrow. i think the mandriva just looks more smoth and seems to give me a bit more control of things then kubuntu but i wouldnt recomment mandriva to a linux newb.

newb friendlyness id have to give to ubuntu/kubuntu

Fedora 11 with KDE 4.3 rocks, so I rate it a 4.8/5

As a developer i always had issues with Ubuntu and Kubuntu so that's 4/5
KDE 4 has one tiny issue: KRegExpEditor isn't ported yet and i always used this incredible app

i played with fedora 11, it works ok on my laptop but not on this box

i myslef am really loving mandriva. need to get a shot or 2 added (been busy aint been able to yet lol)

I liked Fedora 10. It worked on my desktop, my laptop wireless card didn't play so nice with it. Haven't tried 11 yet. I might give it a spin.

I use as 2000 SuSE Wink

KDE 4.x on SuSe is not the Hit, so i use the KDE 3.x Series Very Happy

MY first Linux was a RedHat 5.2 in the Year 98 and than i change 2000 on SuSE 7.2 as Desktop/Server System.

I'm running Mepis 8 with KDE 4.3

Runs great and the new KDE 4.3 is really a big upgrade.

Wiping my Fedora 10 in favor of Fedora 12 at work now.
Will keep you all informed if it solved my network issues and if it has any improvements.
