Hi Guys

Sorry if this is in the wrong area on the forum.
Since my site was upgraded from php nuke to raven nuke 2.4 the response time and speed of posting in the forums is very very slow. It was never very quick previous to the upgrade but is now getting unbearable for my members. The site has a very very big user base with over 17000 registered users if that makes any difference.

I have asked the host and they say there is no issue there end, although they would say that anyway, but before I switch hosts is there anything I can try database wise to speed things up.

The speed is only an issue when making / editing or deleting a post, but sending a private message it is fine. Member end up making duplicate posts as they carry on clicking the submit button when it does not respond

I have tried repairing the database in phpmyadmin, but this did not help at all
Any pointers would be great

Thanks Kenno

Off the top it is hard to see what Ravennuke introduces that would slow you down versus PHPnuke. You should basically be using the same Forum code when you post something. What version of PHPBB were you using previously? And were you using NukeSentinel previously. That could be an additional layer if you weren't using it before.

I'd also be curious what kind of response time you are getting with the Ravennuke Your Account screen. What happens if you bring up a list of all users there? 17,000 is a lot. If many of your users aren't really active you might want to consider getting rid of them.

I assume that you also used the Optimize DB? There is no difference in the Forums per se... try turning off Nuke Sentinel temporarily just to rule it out.

It may be worth turning on Error Reporting and Database Logging just in case some errors have crept in.

A link to your site might be handy as well as it's quite a simple matter to check for excessive HTTP requests, external scripts which might be lagging etc. Also, some forum modifications like the Advanced BB Code Editor can impact a site due to the number of additional HTTP requests for the images.

Thank you all for your replies, and I am sorry for not replying sooner. I have since had the site moved to a different host and the issues have all but gone away. The posting speed is fine now, well has been since we moved last night.

Here is a link to the site if you wanted to have a look www.vwgolfmk1.org.uk

Thanks again for all your replies the support on here is second to none

Thanks Kenno

You can also speed up your delivery (noticeably) by getting rid of the 262 Errors and 156 Warnings on your home page Wink
