When I log in to the forum on one of my sites and I choose to be notified of a reply, I get the debug message - "user unknown". If I log in as another one of my aliases, I don't get that message. I checked the configurations of both "users" and they are identical, including the email addresses.

My login isn't the same as my admin login.

Probably a simple explanation but this one eludes me.

Sounds like a bug to me. Is it possible that you were already watching that forum? Or, maybe the other aliases already had the topic watched?

Yes, not relevant to Sentinel so I reposted it here.

No, neither me OR the aliases were watching the forum. This can happen when there is only the original post and if I reply with notification selected. I could try removing my user and re-registering.

Is this a "stock" forum or are there mods installed? The reason I ask is that I did a search for "unknown" in the package and did not find much. Also is that the exact message you get?

Stock forum, no mods.

Here is the exact error message:
Quote:
Ran into problems sending Mail. Response: 553 5.3.0 ... User unknown

DEBUG MODE

Line : 166
File : smtp.php

Another question that may come up, is the smtp user info correct, yes it is as other mail notifications go out with no problem.

SOLVED

It appears that one of the four aliases set up in the forum was set up on the server to reject email sent only to that alias. After re-routing that alias to a valid user/email, it now works as intended.

Ah, ok. Good. Thanks for letting us know. Makes sense given the error details.
