Hi guys (if posted in the wrong place, apologies- if a mod could move it to the correct place?)

This is not me "having a go"- just general questions, that is all Wink

I guess a lot of "users" don't come by so often (myself included) as there is no need to- ie. the system usually works, as expected. (Kudos)

I've spent some time doing some searches on the forums here for my specific "potential needs", but a lot of them are "old" or have fizzled to nothing/ no response.

What is the status regarding the next planned release of ravennuke? Will it be a minor (bugfix) version, or a biggie?

Is there a roadmap (I know timescales are difficult to plan, as it depends on how many bodies you have helping, their level of technical ability, etc.)

Some things have changed for me -personally- which means I may have some time on my hands.. and I'd like to attempt to give something back, if I can. It may only be an hour per week, it maybe more, depending upon what I have on.

I'm interested in 2 things to move my own site "forward"
1. Upgrade phpbb2 to phpbb3 -lots of posts/ discussions on this, but nothing "final" -and Nukekorea is no longer working....
2. The themes- something so that the nuke sites no longer look like nuke sites, if you know what I mean...

(That doesn't include issues I have with the back end which I'll be getting to grips with in the next month and sorting....)

This site has ALWAYS been good to myself and other users, with respect, support and knowledge (usually in equal amounts)- with second to non advice.

So. Is there a roadmap? Is there a "known" definitive way to "upgrade" from phpbb2 to phpbb3?

Hope you are all well and healthy Wink

Cheers

Andy

I can confirm we have some internal dates set, but it's not for me to comment publicly on them Smile

There are some improvements involving the theme system, but it will be after the release before we can outline them in detail, and theme authors can start taking advantage of them. As with many things in life, there were more changes desired than time will allow within our release schedule.. So things will continue to evolve as we move forward..

It will take some time, but Tricked out news has a "phpBB3 Module in the works". I'll be pitching in to help, and I believe palbin has said he will help as well with a groups bridge. But that will be after we get the next release of RN out the door.

thanks for the response Wink
I need to go through trickedoutnews - I spotted some juicy/ interesting bits on there the other day- I just haven't had chance to go back and look properly when I've been at home.... I'm just wanting to "evolve" the site some, try to "update" it without going "too far". (Hope that makes sense!) I've been contemplating looking into android programming, to see if (in the future) it's possible to do an android app (as opposed to a theme for mobiles)- but everything else needs looking at first... lol.
I'll help where I can- even if it's just with documentation Wink My programming skills aren't exactly programming skills.... (although I've managed to fix some issues with Trellis Desk- but that's another story!)

--edit--

I've missed *lots* -the themes (Jestrellla?) and a LOT of the stuff on tricked out news (the twiter/facebook/etc. links/ likes/ integrations/ etc. (I may need to get a Twitter account for the site) and everything else). I'm going to be "busy" the next few months just with the stuff that's already out- never mind trying to go for something else that can wait..... nice one chaps Very Happy

Think I'm getting giddy like a kid in a sweetshop and all my birthday & Christmas money rolled into one Cool

AndyB,

"Documentation"! We definitely need help in that area!

We will be, barring something totally unexpected, releasing RN v2.5 in the fourth quarter of this year. Our goal is early fourth quarter but I will only commit, at this time, to fourth quarter Wink

lol. I thought that may get someone's attention.

I did a documentation system from scrach for the Health & safety area of a national theme park here in the UK... and have experience of working within ISO 9001:2008 frameworks... as well as project management experience (software stability subject matter expert for the Symbian side of a mobile phone manufacturer that says "hello ****"..)

So yes, I guess I can help with that Very Happy

I've also got a reseller account with my hosts, so I can probably make some of that available for testing purposes (so you have different "variations" to test with along the lines of LAMP other than your's, Raven Wink )

I started looking at Trellis as a solution to something at work, found issues with some parts, and fixed them for my own needs (actually quite a "nice" system from a user perspective)- that got me back into hacking around with php code a little- which got me interested in code (again) -and I need to get my head around my own (main) website and get all it's issues fixed... so I'm back again- but instead of just "take, take, take" I'm wanting to give some back (even if only time) in any way I can.....

Enough waffle... I'm waiting to finish work so I can go over TON lots and see what I can stick onto my own site Very Happy
