Forum Registration Problem

Since I moved over my site from .PHPNuke to RavenNuke things have been much better in my forums especially since I turned on Enable account activation = Admin.

Well this week I had my first problems, I had three users somehow manage to register in my forums (2 of them spammers) that I did not approve as Admin.

My understanding it this is not supposed to be able to happen, am I wrong here? While it is quite a pain to manually go the StopForumSpam website and check each registration it was IMO much better than the alternative.

I understand how a genuine person instead of a script could get past the Captcha but I have no idea how three people were able to register without being approved.

Make sure in the forums admin under General Admin / Configuration that you have Enable account activation set to none.

OK will do thanks. Will this lead to new users having to be approved and showing up in the Waiting Content box like they were doing before?

What is strange though is that the forum registration process seemed to work properly for several months up until last week, and I have not knowingly changed any of the Forum Admin settings from what they previously were and I almost positive that Enable account activation was set to Admin.

By default, the forums account activation should be set to none. The user accounts are handled by the RavenNuke Edit Users in the ACP. I don't know why or how the forums activation may have been changed on your site.

Thanks for the info, I hope that was my only issue here. I guess time will tell though.

I'm guessing this wasn't a virgin installation of RN and that you migrated from php-nuke to RavenNuke. If that's the case, it is highly probably that your original php-nuke setting allowed forum registration.
