Hello All,
My name is Jack and I have some serious problems with my ravennuke site and I do not know what caused them or what to do to correct them. Technical info:
PC: AMD 64bit Quad core
OS: Window XP Pro 32 bit
Hosting: self w/static IP
DB: MySQL 5.1.52
RN ver: 2.40.01
CT Black theme
Site has been running for 2 years with minimal problems and never crashed.
Recently 2 things appear to have occurred about the same time and may even be related. One the computer suffered a malware trojan that got passed the MS Security Essentials. It was removed and registry clean up was performed. Now this is when the site stopped working (after the registry cleanup). No index page even though it is there, admin login page will come up but you can't log on. I can see on the admin login page, that I'm still logged into the sight as my normal user name. I can go into forums, pm, members list just not as admin.
Site is also under an attack of some kind and the webmasters email account is receiving bogus emails saying new members are being added to the site, but the nuke_users db in mysql does not bear out the names in the emails.
My DB is still accessible with phpMyAdmin 3.3.8.1 just don't know what I'm looking at.
I am at a lose as to what I should do. I don't know what to look for or where to begin. I'm sure for someone well versed in raven nuke, they could flip thru a few files and figure it out.
I can give access to the server via team viewer if it is needed to get an idea of what has happened.
I am willing to make a donation to have this problem resolved. I'm getting old and technology has blown by me in the past decade.
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
My job takes me out of town a lot so you can also reach me at my email address. jgburgin@hotmail.com

If your index.php still exists, delete all cookies and clear your browser-cache.
Check the _authors db-table with phpmyadmin in your RN database. If your god-admin account still exists, then change the 'pwd'-field with a new md5 hash of the word 'admin' like this:
21232f297a57a5a743894a0e4a801fc3
Check also if you have in this table unknown admin accounts. After that try to login as god-admin:
user: YOURNAME
password: admin
Then change the admin-pw to a stronger password. Delete unknown admin-accounts, if there some exists.
If you get access as admin and you can't see the index page, then try to change the current theme. If you can see now the index, then it could be your theme.php of your theme is damaged. |

Hopefully you also have good backups of your web site files. You may want to use something like Beyond Compare 3 to compare the full directory path and files with your backup and make sure nothing has been changed. |

Hello friends,
Thanks for the quick response to my situation.
1. It appears that the backup of my most recent state of the website is corrupt, so forward only.
2.I went to the _authors db-table and deleted two admin entries the were no longer necessary and used the above md5 code to attempt reset of the password to get in. No joy.
Strangely, I can enter the forums and even check for PM's in the bb thru the one standard login of me that was active when all this occurred. Just no admin access or display of index.php. I can even log out of the normal user acct and log back in.
Home for the week end so Im going thru the files again one at a time to try and figure it out. |

If you have deleted the admins with phpmyadmin, then you must check also the _modules db-table for entries with the deleted admins. That was the reason why i have posted the delete suggestion after the pw-change, because if you do this in admin-area so you make sure that the admins are also deleted in the _modules db-table. I hope you have not deleted the GOD-admin.
The user-login is independent from the admin-login. Both are different. That is the reason why can login as user. Make sure you have really disabled the security code for the admin-login and not only for the user-login.
If you have the download-package of your used RN version, then install it in another webdir and try to connect with your old database. So you make sure you have all needed files. |

I did not delete the god admin. It is still there and also two other admins which are still active, but cant log in.
Ok I will try to install a new ravennuke instance in a different directory and then may someone can explain how i can move the db files one at a time into the new instance or what ever it is I need to do. |

If you are using the same mysql-server on a localhost, then you don't must move the db-files. You must only set the db-name and db-pass in the config.php.
Maybe if you are moving the old files in another folder and load the new files in the old folder. If you have the download-package of your installed RN, so you need only replace the files.
If you are using in your old page a custom theme, then you must change in the db-table _config the value for the field 'Default_Theme' from your old theme to a theme that you have in the themes-folder of the download-package, maybe 'fisubice' or 'Sand_Journey'. |

Thanks to all who helped me with this issue. I cant explain why but, the home page began working again after a registry clean up and I was then able to recreate the super admin password in the database, which allowed me back into the admin console. Last issue will be to turn on Nuke Sentinel, if I can.
Again thanks.
Jack
