Hi,
After opening my new site yesterday my mailbox are filling up with
"Mail failure - no recipient addresses" messages being sent by the
webserver? (it's resend password messages)
The full message is:
" message that you sent contained no recipient addresses, and therefore
no delivery could be attempted."
Many of the people have login problems, therefore they click
"lost password".
It seems some people have no problems while others do?
Many writes to me and says they cant login even if they registered earlier.
Other people write that they get a "user offline" message?
What is it that can be causing this ?
I'm using nuke v7.4
Please reply urgently!,this is a big problem.
Dobbelina Very Happy

Did the site ever work? Has your host made any changes since you installed?

No,it's a new host for me.
I just uploaded the site 2 days ago.
At home it seems to work fine(Windows),but offcourse i cant test the mail
functions since i dont have a mailserver installed here.
What is strange is that it works for some people, but not others?
The first time i uploaded the site the security code didn't work, after that
i uploaded it again and then it did?
Another strange thing is when connecting with my FTP client to the webserver
the filesizes don't seem to match, there's a few bytes missing on some of the php files?(only some)
I've tried to upload these files several times( ASCII is default for php files) but they still aren't the same size?
I don't know if this is because i'm running Windows, and the server is Linux?
I have Sentinel v2.0 installed as well and it seems to work fine but when trying to
activate the harvester blocker the server gives me an 406 error message.
It says like this:
Not Acceptable
An appropriate representation of the requested resource /~link/nuke3/admin.php could not be found on this server.

The last strange thing that happened is a person got added to the administrator
group(only the forum group, not as site admin) but not by me?,i'm the only administrator and moderator.
In all other aspects the site seem to work fine, but it definitively feels unreliable Sad

Since it's a new site, let's try something. I've seen it work before so it's worth a try. Re-ftp all files using BINARY. That's the only way I ever do it and I have seen that fix sites on particular servers. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Ok,i've uploaded everything in binary.
Have to wait and see what happens, still though i get that error message
when trying to activate the harvesterblocker?

I'm sorry to say the binary upload didn't resolve any of the problems Sad
I remember that this 7.4(chatpatched) version that i'm using did have a problem
from the beginning that might be causing this.
You see when i did a fresh install with these files i couldn't create a superuser,
it just looped.
So what i did is use another database from v7.3 where i already had a superuser
registered.I then run the update file (upd7.3-7.4) and has been using this database
all along.(with the 7.4 files)
I start to think since there obviously was a problem to create a superuser with
these files, perhaps this is the reason why my users have login problems?

Here's exactly what happens(example):
User banana tries to login with his password which is 12345,he then gets
taken to a page which says the following:
Personal Information: banana
Actual User Status: Offline
Last 10 News Submissions sent by banana:

And that's it,he cant access the registered users area.
Then let's say 5 minutes later i login with the same username and password,
and i have no problems whatsoever, for me it works flawlessly?
This is not an isolated coincidence,i receive about 50 mails a day complaining
about this exact same problem.
It works for some, but for many it doesn't?
What do you think i should do to remedy this problem?

2 common things that cause this are cookies and Zone Alarm. Have you deleted your cookies and cleared the cache? If you're using ZA, try turning it off or lowering the level and see if that's it.

Now, i don't have a problem,so what i'll do is tell my users to follow your instructions
and see if it helps.
So you don't think there's something wrong with the files or the database?

Not at this point. Have one of them try one or both of the above.

Okay i'll do that.
Just now when i tried to access the site i got the "there is a problem with the mysql
database" message.
When trying to access it via phpmyadmin i got the "wrong password..." message.
Finally i went to the c-panel and tried to backup the database from there, then it
told me "there are to many connections bla bla...".
I then waited 5 minutes and everythings back to normal again,
Except now the security code is missing?
This inspite of the fact that the config says "$gfx_chk = 7;" ?
I mean it's totally gone,I can even login without it?

Could the problem be that the server cant take the pressure perhaps?
I have in average 100-200 new users signing up every day.
The error log from the c-panel makes no sense either,it's full with errors
like "file is missing"(but it's not) and "Premature end of script headers: /home/link/public_html/nuke3/index.php" etc.
Today The Sentinel caught someone trying to add themselves in the authors
table as well(Abuse-Author).
Am i perhaps under some kinda attack?
I guess when the s**t hits the fan,it does so a lot!!
This stuff is beyond my comprehension,it's a nightmare, soon i'll end up with
a sleeping disorder!!
Dear Raven(or anyone else)what would you suggest i do now?
