fresh install/upgrade

I havent touched the permissions for months, and only went in there last night to change someones group and permissions thats why I noticed it.

But it did start playing up shortly after installing the last patched files 21/7/04 and sentinel's 2.0.1. Oh and Raven's Who is Where.

But after installing WIW it started going wrong and telling me people were somewhere on site that I knew they weren't and I was always in news, plus anyone on forums it said was in home. Confused

But WIW doesnt change the database tables does it?

I've just reactivated the WIW and now it says anyone who is on forums is in news rofl

It must be like me, having hormone problems lol

Hey, Muffin? I was runnign 6.5 and updated to 7.1. What version were you running before and what version and when did you upgrade? I upgraded a month or two ago and this is the first time since then I have tried to mess with forums permissions.

I've always run v7.0 and still am, with all the latest patches from Chatserv's site

I did have Protector installed for about 5 minutes but it messed up the site so I uninstalled it and luckily sentinel was first released that day

I was thinking of upgrading to 7.4 because of these problems, but had been very happy with 7.0 til then as it was so good.

It is always possible it has something to do with Protector I suppose. I was using protector before changing to Sentinel last week. I am pretty sure I got rid of everything from Protector but who knows now.

Well Chatserv deleted a file from my database that was put there by Protector last week, radminblocker

But I hadnt had the problems after uninstalling Protector because I got shot of that months ago now.

Did you remember to edit those 3 files you had to edit when you installed Protector?

I did them on my site, so I dont think it could be that as mine are already edited back to normal and if you hadnt done yours, we wouldnt have the same problem lol

do you have members that are in more than one group? I do, just wondering if it's that causing the problems with permissions

Well I was just wondering if having one person say in 2 or 3 different groups if it confuses the database.

But I need some of my members in different groups, and some in one group. So if thats the problem I'm stuffed Crying or Very sad

Although I can't see why it should cause problems, it's only an access thing to club forums for some, and this morning it had set itself so that club members had become moderators of all forums.

That can't be it. I have all kinds of members in different groups. As I am sure Raven here does as well. I have had it this way for a long time.

I see my WIW now shows people on the forum as being in News and me in Home so that's switched round now rofl

The WIW block has to be inserted into 2 files as per the Installation instructions. Otherwise you will not get correct results. Also, it does not add any table to your database. It adds a HEAP (Memory) table but nothing to your your disk database.

Thats what I thought Raven, so the fault with the forum, whatever is causing that is affecting the wiw block I think, but dont know how.

Chat has altered some forum files to match his own forum files, but the problem is still evident I'm afraid.

I have left a message for him at NR to let him know of the outcome as I had to go to bed last night while he was still working on my site problem.

I hope it isnt too difficult to resolve.

btw the WIW is working today properly ?????????????????????? lol

I can't see anyway the 2 are related. If you have installed WIW as instructed, it should be working. Make sure that you have added the include code exactly as instructed. If you have then I have no idea.

The strange thing with me is this is only happening to one user. I can change permissions on other users without any problems.
