Ok, I don't know if this is possible or not. I have a user I want to keep off of one of my forum categories. I just want him off of it so I don't want to make the forum private or anything. Can I do this using htaccess and just block his ip from the forum url?

I can't find any settings in phpbb to pull this off.

IP banning is easily worked around by DHCP and anonymous proxy, unfortunately. I'm pretty sure a mod_rewrite could be coded, but it would be easily worked around. If you want to use the username, then that would be more feasible (imo), but here again, he could get a new username.

Couldnt you make an invisible group without permissions for the forum you dont want him to have access to then move him into that group (all on his own) He'd be none the wiser and you'd be happy.

Just an idea.

A forum has to be a private forum for any permissions, group or individual.

It doesn't matter now. The member has quit coming around and we removed the forum.

I was hosting a temp forum for a friend and we wanted to block a user from seeing the forum but leave it as a public forum.
