User registration problems

I am having difficulties with the user registration. When someone registers, the email is not sent and I get the following error:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function: mail() in /home/tasha/www.mydomain.com/modules/Your_Account/index.php on line 144

As I am not able to determine the cause of this problem, I was hoping I could just turn off the email part of the registration. I found your hack here, however I have a slight problem.

The directions in the hack state this:

Backup modules/Your_Account/index.php
Edit modules/Your_Account/index.php
Find the function finishNewUser()
Replace it with this one

The problem is, how much am I supposed to replace? do I insert the included or do I replace 20 lines of code? I am just not sure... Can you please help me out so I can try this?

Replace the entire function finishNewUser() with the new one I supply.

After reading what you said, I looked it again and it made perfect sense. I dont know what I was having troubles with before.

The script is great and works perfect.
