I know it's a long shot.......but is there any way to keep the online casinos and prescription drug venders from posting 20 or so entries to my guestbook about every 5th or 6th day?? I'm getting real tired of going in and deleting them so often.. Nothing is safe from the spammers of the world it seems!!

Thanks in advance
Rod

Seems like the most effective method is to block the entire IP block of the offenders ISP. If that doesn't work use ip2country to help you decide if you need or are willing to block their entire netrange. Its a little less work then deleting the posts but not much.

Otherwise its restrict access to logged in members but then they will start to register lol there is almost no winning. But really any posting access should be restricted to members just to be on the safe side. I know it sort of defeats the guest book in principle but...

Its time consuming no matter what but it does seem like if you make it harder for them they will seek easier haunts. Blocking for a month then opening it back up seems to an ok way to go about it. I dunno why but I don't like to block out entire ranges forever. Just doesn't seem real neighborly.

I've tried the IP blocking and they just come from another address. Just last night I deleted over 30 entries from the online casino's and med sales. I love the look and feel, ease of use and setup of KISGB so I don't want to change. In looking around, I've noticed that a lot of GB's use something similar to the security that is used on this site during log-in. A lot of them also change the @ to AT in the signers address so that the bots can't harvest their addresses either. What would the possibility be that this could be incorparated into KISGB? That would make this the top of the line guestbook. Just a suggestion but I would sure like to see it happen!!

maybe compare the posting to a ban list?

Does the guestbook use PHPNuke's bad word list? I don't use it so I couldn't tell you. If it did, I would just kick out the posting if it matches something on the list.
