Ways to secure Coppermine

I was reading in another thread that somebody (Raven?) was saying that Coppermine is a huge security risk. I would like to hear some suggestions from the experts.

Is there a good secure substitute?

Can we disable other users (besides the Admin) from creating albums and uploading pictures and will that alone make it secure enough to use?

Any other thoughts?

The general consensus is that Menalto Gallery is the safest alternative primarily due to the fact it is the only actively maintained free script. There are some paid alternatives but I've heard a lot of negative reports regarding support for PHPNuke while being advertised as compatible.

There is a fairly decent hack to use 4images on their forums but its not a 100% ported solution just a bridge between the user permissions and unsupported for the most part. But the lic its distributed under may put it into the paid script category under some circumstances be sure to check it out and decide if your a commercial user or not.

Is there a How-To for integrating Gallery into PHP-Nuke? I've been looking everywhere (even NukedGallery) and can't find one...
