I've noticed that the last few posters on my site were generating a "message can not be delivered" error.

Quote:
This message was created automatically by mail delivery software.

A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of its recipients. This is a permanent error. The following address(es) failed:

For the last couple I thought that the poster had entered an incorrect address, but that seems not to be the case.

There is nothing obvious in the server error log and so all new posters are not receiving an alert that a topic reply has been posted - I just get a copy of the notification saying that it was undeliverable.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Tony

Normally the error message details what the error was - mailbox full, no address on the server, etc.

The funny thing is that I am getting the emails from other posters but my own topic notifications are being rejected by the server immediately.

In this case it is

unrouteable mail domain

So it seems like something to do with my own username?

Edit
I'll try another username first.

I created a test account which gave me the same "email undeliverable" email message.

The funny thing is that the response is immediate which must mean that the mailer has not even tried to send the topic reply notification.

However for everyone else it appears to work fine Sad

It would seem that maybe your host has made some kind of change. Or have you installed anything?

No I haven't changed anything for weeks - apart from the weblinks module as you know.

Why would it be my host? Oh OK - being able to send SMTP - is that what you mean?

Wow - you are up early this morning Smile

If you haven't done so aready, give the forum admin a domain, user account, and a password that it can use. Maybe your host did lock the box down without realizing it.

Well the puzzling thing is that most of the time it seems to work but for example this one does not:

craig@gotpips.com
unrouteable mail domain "gotpips.com"

But normal email works fine.
