Hi,
I'm trying to learn how to develop a simple database, that would be used to display the scores of a basketball club. I don't know where to start, have you ever seen any such application ? Is it easy to develop, I would like to make it myself in order to learn a bit about this... Or to use one already made if I can translate it to Portuguese.
Any help apreciated...
These are my objectives:
1- A database containing the teams the club has
2- The players in the teams
3- The games the teams played
4- The scores of the games
5- Several statistics of each player
I think that it would be easier to create a Game Card or something, where you could input the pertaining data, and have it displayed later in the categories, or all together.
I repeat, this is something I could do in access or another database software, but since the club site is a Nuke portal, I don't really see how to fit it there, so I am asking for help on how to do it in PHP and Nuke...
Thanks in advance for the time spent reading this... (please excuse my english, it's not my mother language and it is very rusty) |

It is made with HTML isn't it ??
It is really a great job, and a soluction.
I do not want to apear ungratefull, but, my idea was to simplify the process, since it won't be me who will do de entering of the data after the site is up and running. And things being what they are, someone that it is not as used to maintaining a web site, is most prone to let it diie, if the data maintenance is complex... I'm sure you know what I mean... That solution would work great if I was the one who would keep inserting it, but ... I'm not....
Any way, that gives me some insight into what kind of problem I'm getting myself in... since I can't refuse this kind of challenges I'll keep on looking everywhere I can think of...
Really appreciated the speed of your answer, and most of all, the offer to help... Thankyou...
If you don't mind it being in Portuguese language, the site is: Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! |

I completely understand. My solution isn't very newbie (excuse the term) friendly.
I'm sure you can hunt someone down to create this for you but I don't see you getting it for free since it is such a custom module.
Good luck! |

Ok, atm I'm not game to pay, even because the page is being done pro-bono, as a gift to the club, where my 3 kids are playing. So, paying is not possible, but, I still need it anyway, so... can anyone, at least give me some idea of one module that I could edit, or build up, that could do any of these things I need ? I would keep the copyright of the original, and I can afterwards make it available to download from one of my sites... Please, at least some hints of where to begin... |

I've been thinking to use the encyclopedia module, to create the teams and players database, but what about the games ? And the statistics ? Of course the Form to enter the data, I could create in html, but how would it be stored in the database ? I have no idea how to do that... Prolly it is something really simple, but I don't have enough knowledge to build it...
Any sugestions ? |

I currently use nuke league on my site. My problem is entering the stats. Is there an efficient way to enter a players stats instead of doing it manually in admin. Maybe from a .txt file or something. I see a lot of site doing this so was wondering how. It would waste a lot of time to add 1 stat at a time and beats the purpose of using phpnuke. |
