The Philosophy behind Safe-mode ?

Okay let me start this topic cause its bugging me for a while now...
Not long ago posted here was someone mentioning mambo.
And thats just my point in this.....mambo .
All great but mambo doesnt run with safe-mode on.

And perhaps raven can give his opinion to this as well..
Any harm if safe-mode is on ?

Cause mine got set to on again.
Simple because some "jerks" or whatever were busy scanning ?
So the question is...how vunerable is the server running with safe-mode on..?

The server is LESS vulnerable with safe mode on. And, Mambo will run with safe mode on. They apparently provide a fix http://mamboforge.net/projects/safemode452/

hi raven....yeah i know that one..
but one part of mambo that is very sensitive are the templates.
if your out of luck you run a template that is some what different and them your goes down.

that happend yesterday when suddenly the safe-mode was turned again.
but i did found out that mambo can run with safe-mode on but a lot of things dont work anymore...
and weird part is that the people that complain about its safe-mode all i read is about its functions.
The uploading/deleting of stuff,mostly mods and components.

Fact is that if your lucky the template will continue to work,but 4 of my other sites that run on mambo have 4 different templates of 4 different authors,and 3 of them went down.

but its about safe-mode...
as i understand....you can run safe-mode but that goes ok as long people on that server dont have any vulnerable scripts running.

But running on safe-mode...doesnt that exclude a lot of scripts for ever being used ?

My understanding (practical vs. experience) is that if it is setup correctly you should not have these problems. I am not experienced with this so I can't say much more than that, but I suppoe if you serach Google long enough you will have the answer Smile

well as for the mambo stuff,thats an aswer a lot of people are waiting for at mambo...
but it seems they wanna have it fixed in the new version...
