This is really odd, but I've unzipped the nuke 7.7 patched to 3.0b on my local machine, edited config.php and now am trying to upload the directory structure to a folder on my host.
Most of it works just fine, but there are several .gifs in the tiny_mce folder that just will not upload (file size zero). Most of these are in html/includes/tiny_mce/themes/advanced and basic. The files in advanced include bold.gif, bullist.gif, center.gif....
I've verified that the source files are fine, the transfer mode is binary. The session just times out, even if I just try to upload one file.
This has to be some kind of bonehead problem that my bonehead just can't figure out. Any and all help welcomed, no offence can possibly be taken regrdless of how stupid I'm being.
Thanks for the help. |

Sounds silly, but it makes me wonder if there is an htaccess issue |

Try it with FlashFXP, it works for me.

I'll give the new ftp client a try. It's really odd because it is only affecting certain files. Most of the files get in just fine, just certain ones have problems and the same certain ones have problems on both hosting systems. I can view the files on my local system just fine.
Do you think .htaccess problems could be specific to certain files?
I'm at my wits end, I don't have any way to decompress the files on the host system else I would just upload the package as a zip, rar or tar. |

Yeah, the norm is simply to use an "automated" ftp client like the one suggested. I had the same problem with a few other FTP Clients, but FlashFXP has worked flawlessly.
.htaccess shouldn't restrict you because when logged into your hosting account, you are a level above the rules of .htaccess and are not bound to those rules because you are managing files outside the http access arena.
As for having to upload everything as individual files, we're all used to it and again using an FTP Client solution that uses automated transfer tools (like automatically selecting Binary versus ASCII... you don't touch it, you just leave it set to automatic) makes life much easier, especially when handling large numbers of files in transfers. Finally, some programs handle zero sized files better than others. FlashFXP has no problems with it. |

OK, I guess I leave this at the hands of the Internet.....
I use a directPC satellite connection at home, which almost works for most things. When I need dependable bandwidth, I go to starbucks (Tmobile) - heck, I know it's a sacrifice, but someone has to do it.
Anyway, what's odd, of course, is that I've varied everything in my troubleshooting process except for starbucks. I came home to try the FTP client as suggested, uploaded the tiny_mce part only, and everything went in just fine. I then used one of my other clients (3d-ftp is WICKED fast), which failed before, and now all is well from home.
I'm going to set off a full upload from home using the satellite then head off to bed, but perhaps there's something wrong with the Tmobile link for uploading certain byte pattern files via FTP...or maybe the coffee in the air interfered with the wireless access ;^).
I'll post results in the morning just to cover all the bases for any future info seekers. Certainly a bizarre way to end the day.

Well, it looks like Starbucks (or rather Tmobile)'s wireless service was the issue. The upload via my home satellite connection finished just fine. Must be something in their firewall, etc. setup.
Thanks for all the help all... |
