I was doing a fresh install of 7.8 and ran into a problem with spawning entries in the table "prefix"_modules. Everything was correct in config.php. The install went fine, but in the admin panel, I noticed every refresh added a duplicate set of module entries to the "prefix"_module table. I ran through the scripts and did not see anything immediately that would explain it.
I changed all the table prefixes back to "nuke" in phpmyAdmin, edited config.php correspondingly and the problem stopped.
Does anyone know if there is an issue with using a prefix other than "nuke" in 7.8, or if the length of a prefix in PHP-Nuke has to be under a certain number of characters? The prefix I was using had 6 characters. |

This is the first report of this I've seen. If you didn't already see it, please see Only registered users can see links on this board! Get registered or login! on why not to use 7.7 and 7.8. |

Thank you, kguske. I hadn't read the article & 64bitguy makes a very valid case for not using 7.7-7.8. This install was for testing something for compatibililty to 7.8 using a non-production site, so I'm more curious than concerned. I've never encountered this either, and couldn't pull up anything like it on a search.
I wish FB would use some of his "club money" to hire a professional coder.

I re-loaded the config.php to make sure it was done in ASCII. Same spawning. Only thing I have different than a standard install is this is in a sub-dir. Also just a play-around site. |

How many times do I have to say it - Don't use v7.7. nor 7.8! Revert back to v7.6. |

How do you revert back to 7.6 or 7.5 I thought that once you updated you would have to do a fresh install to get it back to a older one

Hey yourself! Sorry to be so long to reply, but I had the 'notify me' toggle kicked off & didn't see your message earlier. I'm doing very well. I have a site under attack, which I'll post about elsewhere since I have a question or two.
To pull this message (sort of) back on topic, I've stopped offering PHP-Nuke installs above 7.6 at my hosting site. It still seems way too buggy, even with all the fixes.
About the fixes - Chatserv, I don't know how you do it. It's got to be a 2-bottle-of-aspirin job keeping up with it all. Bless! |
